ESD eServices login loop not working - no error message showing
Is anyone else having trouble with the ESD eServices login page? My son has been trying to file his weekly claim since yesterday but keeps getting stuck in some weird login loop. He enters his username and password (which he's 100% sure are correct), clicks log in, and then it just dumps him back at the login screen without any error message! He's tried clearing his cache, using different browsers (Chrome, Edge, even his phone), and even resetting his password, but nothing works. It just keeps recycling back to the login page like it's ignoring his attempts completely. This is his 4th week claiming and he's never had this issue before. Any advice before we spend another 5 hours trying to get through on the phone?

I've seen this happen before - it's usually one of three things: 1. There's a browser compatibility issue with eServices (try using Microsoft Edge in InPrivate mode) 2. The SAW account might be temporarily locked due to security protocols 3. ESD is doing one of their infamous "maintenance" periods that they don't announce properly Before wasting hours on the phone, have your son try logging into his SecureAccess Washington account directly (https://secureaccess.wa.gov/) first to make sure that's working. If he can log into SAW but not eServices, then it's an ESD-specific issue. Also, check if your son's account might be flagged for identity verification - sometimes they require that before allowing further access.

•Thanks for the tips! He just tried logging into the SAW site directly and that worked fine, but when he clicks through to ESD, same problem happens. I'm starting to think it's something on their end. He hasn't received any emails about identity verification, but maybe that's stuck somewhere too?

I'm dealing with this exact issue right now!! Been trying for 2 days straight. What I've discovered is that there's apparently a glitch in their system when your security questions need to be updated, but instead of giving you an error message, it just loops you back to the login page. SO ANNOYING that they can't just tell us what's wrong! I finally got through to someone at ESD this morning after calling literally 37 times (counted on my phone log). They told me I needed to create a brand new SAW account and link it to my existing ESD account. Seems extreme but I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point.

•37 calls?! That's insane. Did they tell you how to link a new SAW account to the existing ESD account? I'm worried about my son losing his claim history if we have to make a new account.

Had this exact problem a few weeks ago. Turns out ESD had flagged my account for a quarterly review but didn't notify me. The system was trying to redirect me to a verification page but something in their system was broken. FYI - If you need to speak with an actual ESD agent without the hours of redialing, I recently discovered a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helps you bypass the phone queue. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Used it last week when I was dealing with an adjudication issue and got through to ESD in about 25 minutes instead of spending my entire day redialing. Definitely worth knowing about when you're in a tough spot with these login problems.

•is that service legit? seems sketchy to pay just to talk to unemployment

•Yeah, totally get the skepticism. I was hesitant too, but I was missing deadlines and desperate. It's just an automated calling system that does the redial work for you. They don't ask for any personal claim info or anything like that. In my case, worth every penny not to spend 7 hours hitting redial.

This is a known issue with ESD's system integration between SecureAccess Washington and their own authentication layer. I work in IT and have helped several people with this exact problem. The most reliable fix: 1. Clear ALL browser data (not just cache, but cookies and storage) 2. Restart your computer completely (not just the browser) 3. Try using Microsoft Edge (ESD's systems are optimized for it) 4. Make sure you're going through the official SAW portal first 5. If you have a password manager or autofill, disable it and type credentials manually If none of those work, there's likely a flag on the account that requires agent intervention. Unfortunately, that does mean calling in. Also, check if your son's claim is on a "conditional" status - sometimes the system blocks logins when there's an pending eligibility review but doesn't properly notify you.

•Thank you for these detailed steps! We'll try them right now. Is there any way to check if his claim has a "conditional" status without being able to log in?

•Unfortunately not. That status is only visible once you're in the system. If these steps don't work, you'll need to contact ESD directly. If you can't get through by phone, try the online chat feature during less busy hours (typically Wednesday/Thursday mornings).

OMG the ESD website is THE WORST. I swear they design it to be frustrating on purpose so people just give up on their claims 🤬 My sister had this EXACT problem and it turned out she had a message in her ESD inbox that she needed to respond to, but HOW CAN YOU CHECK YOUR INBOX IF YOU CAN'T LOG IN??? The logic is mind-blowing. Eventually she got through on the phone and they "unlocked" something on their end. Never did explain what caused it. The whole system is broken beyond repair.

•That's exactly what I'm thinking! How are we supposed to respond to messages we can't see? Did your sister just keep calling until she got through?

Update for everyone having this issue: ESD just announced on their Twitter that they're experiencing "technical difficulties" with the login system affecting "some users" (translation: it's completely broken). They claim they're working on it. No ETA for a fix though. Might be worth waiting a day to see if it resolves before spending hours on the phone.

•Thanks for the update! That explains everything. I'll have my son try again tomorrow then. At least now we know it's not something we're doing wrong.

I'm dealing with this same login loop issue right now! Been trying to file my weekly claim for the past two days with no luck. It's so frustrating when you can't even get an error message to tell you what's wrong. Has anyone tried calling the customer service line early in the morning? I've heard they have fewer callers right when they open at 8 AM, but I wanted to check if that's actually true before setting my alarm that early. Also wondering if there's a specific day of the week that's better for getting through - seems like Mondays would be the worst since everyone's trying to file their weekly claims. Really hoping they fix this technical issue soon because I can't afford to miss filing this week!
