ESD adjudicator called me today - how long until payment after adjudication?

Finally got a call from my adjudicator today after 8 WEEKS of waiting in limbo! I was about ready to lose my mind checking eServices every morning only to see "pending" over and over again. For anyone wondering, I reached out to the governor's office yesterday out of desperation (honestly didn't think it would do anything), and I got a call from ESD within hours saying an adjudicator would contact me. Sure enough, they called this afternoon and asked about 15-20 questions related to my claim. Now I'm sitting here refreshing my account every 30 minutes hoping to see a status change. Has anyone recently gone through adjudication? How long after your adjudicator called did your claim get approved and money actually hit your account? I'm down to my last $240 and rent is due next week, so I'm kind of freaking out about timing here. Thanks to everyone in this group - reading through your posts has been the only thing keeping me somewhat sane during this process!

my adjudcator called me on march 15th and my status changed to paid the next morning!! but then it took 3 more days for the money to actually show up in my account. just depends on your bank i think

That's encouraging! Did they tell you during the call if you were approved, or did you just have to wait and see?

It varies quite a bit based on your specific situation. If the adjudicator just needed to verify simple information, you might see payment within 24-48 hours. If there were more complex eligibility issues that needed review, it could take 3-5 business days for a determination to be made. Here's how the process typically works: 1. Adjudicator completes their review 2. Makes a determination on eligibility 3. If approved, your status will change from "pending" to "paid" 4. Payment processing takes 24-72 hours depending on your banking institution I'd recommend checking your eServices account for any correspondence or status updates. You can also check your action items and decision status pages for the latest information. Just because they called doesn't guarantee approval, but it's definitely a step forward that they're actively working on your claim.

Thank you for such a detailed response! The adjudicator mainly asked about my previous employment and why I left. Nothing seemed particularly complicated to me, but I guess I'll just need to wait and see. Is there any specific section in eServices where status changes typically show up first?

0 coins

You'll want to check the "Summary" page in eServices first, as that shows your overall claim status. The "Decisions" page will show any formal determination letters once they're issued. And don't forget to check your secure messages inbox, as they may send you a notification there before the payment processes.

took 2 WEEKS after my adjudicator call for my payments to start in january. they never even told me a decision was made just suddenly started getting money.

Two weeks?! That's terrifying. Did you try calling them during that time to check on your status?

ya i tried calling liike everyday but never got thru just busy signals and hangups. eventually i just gave up and waited. system suuuuucks

ESD is TERRIBLE with communication!! I had my adjudication interview on February 9th, and then silence for 3 days. I kept checking the website and calling - nothing but frustration. Then on day 4, I got THREE MONTHS of backpay all at once with ZERO warning! Almost $5,800 just appeared in my account! BUT my neighbor had her adjudication interview the same week and it took 10 days for her to get a rejection letter! Then she had to appeal and wait ANOTHER 6 weeks! The whole system is broken and inconsistent!!! My advice: keep documenting EVERYTHING. Take screenshots of your eServices account daily. Write down who you talk to and when. ESD makes too many mistakes and you'll need proof later when they inevitably mess something up!

Wow, that's a huge swing from your experience to your neighbor's! Did she know why she was denied? I'm worried because my separation was a little complicated.

0 coins

She was denied because her employer lied and said she quit instead of being laid off! Had to appeal and prove they eliminated her position. The system is rigged for employers! Make sure you have DOCUMENTATION for everything you told the adjudicator!

Contacting the governor's office was a smart move! That often helps escalate claims that have been stuck in the system. Based on my experience helping people with their claims, here's what typically happens after adjudication: Best case scenario: If your adjudicator doesn't identify any issues requiring further review, your claim could be approved within 1-2 business days. The funds usually appear in your account 2-3 business days after approval (depending on your bank's processing time). Typical scenario: The adjudicator compiles their notes and recommendations, which then get reviewed by another staff member before final approval. This process usually takes 3-5 business days total before payment. If they found issues: Sometimes the adjudicator needs to gather additional information after the call (like contacting your former employer for verification). This can extend the timeline to 7-10 business days. Keep filing your weekly claims during this waiting period! Even if your initial claim is still pending, you need those weekly claims on file to receive payment for those weeks once approved.

Thank you for such thorough information! The adjudicator did mention they still needed to "verify some information with my employer" but wouldn't tell me specifically what. Does that sound concerning to you?

0 coins

That's actually standard procedure. They typically need to verify your dates of employment, reason for separation, and final wages with your employer. It's part of their due diligence and doesn't necessarily indicate a problem with your claim. However, it does mean you're likely looking at that 5-7 business day timeline rather than the expedited 1-2 day process.

i was in same boat!! waited 6 weeks then got adjudicator call on april 5. she was super nice asked about my job and why i got laid off. next morning my status changed to paid!!! money came 2 days later. hang in there your almost done with the nightmare!!! 🙏

Thank you for the encouragement! Did yours include backpay for all the weeks you had been filing while waiting?

After my adjudication interview, it took exactly 4 business days for my claim status to change from pending to paid. The money hit my account on day 6. I received backpay for all 7 weeks I had been waiting. If you don't see movement on your claim within 5 business days of your adjudicator call, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to ESD. I spent three full days trying to reach someone before discovering this service. Their video explains how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 It connected me directly to an ESD representative who could see the actual status of my claim and tell me exactly what was happening with it. Way better than the automated system that tells you nothing useful.

Thanks for the timeline! 4-6 days seems to be the average from what people are saying. If I don't see anything by early next week, I'll definitely check out that service. Did your adjudicator tell you during the call that they were likely to approve your claim, or did they not give any indication?

My adjudicator actually told me at the end of our call that they had enough information to make a determination but couldn't tell me what that determination would be. She said it needed to go through a review process first. So I didn't know if I was approved until I saw my status change online.

my story is little different but might help. i got approved without ever talking to adjudicator at all! waited 5 weeks and status suddenly changed from pending to paid. when i finally got someone on phone they said sometimes they can approve based just on documents without needing interview. every claim different i guess

ya thats what happend to my brother too!! never talked to anyone but still got paid after like a month

Similar timeline here! I had my adjudicator call on March 12th and my status changed to "paid" 3 business days later. The actual money showed up in my account 2 days after that, so 5 days total from the call to cash in hand. One thing that helped me stay sane during those 3 days was checking the "Action Items" section in eServices - mine disappeared the day before my status changed to paid, which was kind of like an early warning sign that things were moving. Also wanted to mention that contacting the governor's office was brilliant! I wish I had known about that option when I was stuck in limbo. For anyone else reading this who's been waiting forever, definitely try that route. It seems like it really does help escalate things. Fingers crossed your payment comes through quickly! The fact that they called you so soon after you contacted the governor's office is a really good sign that they're prioritizing your claim now.

That's really helpful about the Action Items section disappearing as an early indicator! I'll definitely keep an eye on that. It's reassuring to hear another success story with a similar timeline. Did you get backpay for all the weeks you had been waiting, or just from when your status changed?

This gives me so much hope! I've been waiting 9 weeks and finally got my adjudicator call yesterday. They asked pretty standard questions about my layoff and seemed satisfied with my answers, but didn't give me any hints about approval. Reading through everyone's experiences, it sounds like 3-5 business days is the most common timeline after the call. I'm going to try to be patient and not refresh eServices every 10 minutes (easier said than done!). @Anastasia Romanov - the fact that the governor's office got you a call so quickly is amazing! I'm definitely keeping that in my back pocket if I run into issues in the future. Sounds like your claim is moving in the right direction now. Keep us posted on when your status changes!

@Isabella Brown Thank you so much for the encouragement! It really does help to know I m'not alone in this nightmare. 9 weeks is brutal - I can t'imagine how frustrated you must be feeling. The fact that your adjudicator seemed satisfied with your answers sounds promising though! I m'definitely going to try the Action Items trick that @Annabel Kimball mentioned. Anything that might give me an early heads up would be such a relief. I ll absolutely'keep everyone posted once I see any changes. Fingers crossed we both get good news this week! 🤞 And yes, contacting the governor s office'was a total Hail Mary that somehow worked. I found their contact form online and basically wrote a desperate plea explaining how long I d been'waiting. Worth a shot if anyone else is stuck!

Just wanted to jump in and share my recent experience since it sounds like we're in very similar situations! I had my adjudicator call last Tuesday (March 25th) and my status changed to "paid" this morning - so exactly 4 business days. The adjudicator was really thorough, asked about my job duties, reason for leaving, and confirmed some dates, but like yours, she didn't give me any indication of which way it would go. What really helped me during the waiting period was keeping a daily log of what I saw in eServices. Like @Annabel Kimball mentioned, my Action Items disappeared yesterday (day 3), and then this morning I woke up to the beautiful word "PAID" on my summary page! Still waiting for the money to hit my account but I'm not worried anymore. The governor's office contact was genius - I'm definitely filing that away for future reference. It's crazy that it took external pressure to get them moving on your claim, but I'm so glad it worked! Based on what everyone's sharing here, it sounds like you should see movement within the next few days. Hang in there! 💪

Congratulations on getting approved! 🎉 That's such a relief to hear, especially with the 4-day timeline. I'm definitely going to start keeping a daily log like you suggested - that's really smart. It's encouraging that the Action Items disappearing seems to be a reliable early indicator across multiple people's experiences. Your timeline gives me hope that I might see something by early next week. I had my call yesterday (Friday), so if the pattern holds, maybe Tuesday or Wednesday? Either way, just knowing there's light at the end of the tunnel makes this so much more bearable. Thank you for sharing your experience and the encouragement! @Nia Thompson Did your backpay include all the weeks you had been waiting, or did they only pay from when your status changed?

Wow, what a journey you've been through! Eight weeks of waiting is absolutely brutal, and I'm so glad the governor's office contact worked for you. That's actually brilliant - I never would have thought to reach out there but it makes total sense that they might have more pull to get things moving. I'm currently on week 6 of waiting myself, so reading through all these experiences is both nerve-wracking and hopeful. The timeline seems pretty consistent - most people are seeing movement within 3-5 business days after their adjudicator call, with money hitting accounts 2-3 days after that. One thing I noticed from everyone's stories is that the adjudicators rarely give you a hint about which way the decision will go, so try not to read too much into the tone of the call. The fact that they called you so quickly after you contacted the governor's office suggests they're treating your case as a priority now. Keep us posted on your status changes! And definitely try that Action Items trick - seems like when those disappear, approval is usually right around the corner. Fingers crossed you see some movement early this week! 🤞
