Changed from 'disqualified' to 'processing' status on ESD - am I getting benefits now?
Just checked my ESD account after being stuck with 'disqualified' status on all my weekly claims for almost a month. About an hour ago, I noticed everything changed to 'processing' out of nowhere! Does this mean my benefits are finally getting approved? Anyone else had their claim status change suddenly like this? Not sure if I should get excited or if this is just another step in the whole confusing process. Been surviving on credit cards since I got laid off from construction work in January and really need this to go through.

Yes! This is a good sign! When mine switched from disqualified to processing last year, I got paid about 3-4 business days later. It usually means they've reviewed whatever issue was causing the disqualification and decided in your favor. Keep checking your account daily - it should change to 'paid' next, then the money will hit your account/card.

•Omg thank u!!! I was worried it was just another glitch in their system. Do you think I'll get backpay for all the weeks that were disqualified before? Theres like 8 weeks worth.

Actually, I wouldn't get too excited yet. 'Processing' just means they're reviewing your claim again. I've seen it go from disqualified → processing → back to disqualified. The key is finding out what caused the disqualification in the first place. Did you get any letters in your ESD correspondence explaining why you were originally disqualified? If so, did you appeal or call to fix the issue?

•Well now im confused :( There was something about me not completing enough job search activities but I sent them proof that I did. Never got any response after uploading those documents. Maybe thats what triggered the change?

•Thats awesome! Did you get all the back weeks too? Really hoping I don't have to call them to make sure everything goes through correctly

The ESD system is incredibly frustrating. 'Processing' typically means they've lifted whatever issue was causing the disqualification, but there's never a guarantee until you see 'paid' status. In my experience working with dozens of UI claims, you should call to confirm what's happening rather than just hoping for the best. The problem is getting through to ESD - I spent WEEKS trying to reach them about my adjudication issue.

•If you're struggling to reach ESD by phone (who isn't?), I finally had success using Claimyr. It's a service that basically waits on hold for you then calls when they get an agent. Saved me hours of frustration! Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Worth it when you're dealing with something important like getting your disqualification lifted.

WHY does ESD make this process SO COMPLICATED??? They disqualified me for "able and available" issues when I CLEARLY stated I was available! Then suddenly it changed to processing after I left my 20TH VOICEMAIL. The whole system is designed to deny benefits and make people give up!!!

•I'm sorry you went through that frustration! The able and available issues are tricky because they can be triggered by how you answer certain weekly claim questions. For example, if you say you weren't available for full-time work during any day of the week (even if it was for a doctor's appointment), it can cause an automatic disqualification. Did you change any of your answers on recent weekly claims?

UPDATE: It changed to PAID!!! All my weeks from disqualified → processing → paid in just 48 hours! OMG I'm actually crying right now. Thank you everyone for the advice and support. For anyone dealing with the same issue - I think uploading those job search documents finally fixed it, even though it took them forever to review them.

•That's great news! So happy for you. And yes, you should receive payment for all those back weeks that switched to paid status. The money usually hits accounts 1-2 business days after the 'paid' status appears. Just make sure you keep up with your job search requirements (3 activities per week) to avoid any future issues!

•This is actually quite common - ESD often processes claims in batches, which is why multiple weeks can suddenly change status at once. For future reference, if you ever get disqualified again, you have the right to appeal within 30 days of the decision. Even if you submit documentation, sometimes you need to formally appeal to get the issue resolved quickly.

Congratulations Santiago! This is exactly what happened to me last month - went from disqualified to processing to paid within a week. The fact that yours changed so quickly after uploading those job search documents is a really good sign. ESD's system is painfully slow but when it finally moves, it usually means they've cleared whatever was holding up your claim. Keep filing your weekly claims even while it's processing - you don't want to miss any weeks! Hope you get that back pay soon, 8 weeks is a lot to catch up on.

•Thanks for sharing your experience Nora! It's really reassuring to hear from people who've been through the same thing. I'm definitely going to keep filing my weekly claims - learned that lesson from reading other posts here. The waiting game is so stressful when you're broke but at least there's hope now. Did you have any issues with the back pay when yours finally went through? Just want to make sure I don't run into any surprises.
