Adjudication progress - one claim changed to 'processing' while others still 'pending' - good sign?
Been stuck in adjudication hell for almost 6 weeks now. Today FINALLY got a phone interview with an ESD adjudicator who reviewed all my evidence (screenshots of texts from manager, schedule changes, etc). He seemed pretty confident my claim would be approved after our 40-minute conversation. Said my former employer has until 5pm today to respond with their side, and I should get final decision next week (probably delayed because of Memorial Day). Just checked eServices and noticed something changed - it now shows I'm eligible for 2 fewer payments than before, and my first weekly claim after the waiting week changed from "pending" to "processing"! The other 4 weekly claims still say pending though. Is this a sign they're approving my claim?? Anyone else see this pattern before getting approved? I'm desperate for this money with rent due next week.

Yes thats definitely a good sign!! When mine went from pending to processing it was paid out 2 days later. The fact they reduced your eligible weeks probably means they found something that affected your benefit year but overall its moving forward!!!

•OMG thank you! That gives me some hope. Did all your weeks change to processing at once or did they do them one at a time? I'm wondering why only my first week changed.

This isnt 100% a guarantee but it sounds promising. The reduced payments could mean they determined you weren't eligible for those specific weeks (maybe you reported some income or they found you weren't available for work during those periods). Processing usually means they're calculating the payment amount and getting ready to release funds. The fact you had your adjudication interview and now see movement in the system is definitely positive. In my experience, they often process weeks one at a time, starting with the earliest.

•Yeah, I did have some part-time hours during those first two weeks so that makes sense. I'm just paranoid after waiting so long! I've been checking the site like 5 times a day for weeks...

When my claim was in adjudication last year, I saw exactly the same pattern. They started processing my earliest week first, then gradually worked through the others. It took about 3-4 business days for all weeks to change from pending to processing to paid. The reduction in eligible weeks is normal if they found weeks where you either had excessive earnings or were determined ineligible for some reason. One thing to keep in mind - if they approve your claim before your employer responds, they can still contest it later, which could potentially create an overpayment situation. But based on what you described about your adjudicator's confidence after seeing your evidence, you're probably in good shape.

•That's reassuring to hear someone else went through the same thing! I've been so stressed about this, especially with bills piling up. I have all my documentation saved just in case they try to contest it later.

•Ugh, that's exactly what I'm afraid of! Did your claim eventually get approved though? This whole experience has been such a nightmare.

After struggling with a similar situation (6 weeks in adjudication), I finally tried Claimyr.com to get through to an actual ESD agent. It connected me within 30 minutes when I'd been trying for weeks on my own! The agent was able to tell me exactly what was happening with my claim and why certain weeks were processing while others weren't. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Might be worth trying if you don't see more movement on your claim by Tuesday or Wednesday. Having someone actually explain what's happening really reduced my anxiety.

•I'll definitely check that out if I don't see more progress by mid-week, thanks for the suggestion. At this point I'm willing to try anything!

Each time your claim status changes, it's a sign that someone at ESD is working on your case. The fact that one payment moved to "processing" is definitely a good sign - it means they've made a determination and are preparing to issue payment. The reduction in eligible weeks could be related to monetary calculations, availability issues, or other eligibility factors they determined during adjudication. It's completely normal for them to process weeks sequentially rather than all at once. I'd recommend checking your Notices/Letters section in eServices, as they sometimes post determination letters there before you receive them in the mail. Also check your online account correspondence - sometimes they request additional information that could further delay your payments. If you don't see all weeks move to processing within 5 business days, I'd recommend calling ESD for clarification.

•Thanks for the detailed explanation! I'll check the Notices section now - didn't think to look there. Do you know if Memorial Day will delay processing much? Really hoping to see movement this week.

•Yes, the holiday will likely delay things by at least one business day. ESD typically doesn't process payments on holidays or weekends. Based on your timeline, I'd expect to see more movement Tuesday-Thursday this week, assuming there are no other issues with your claim.

I wouldn't get too excited yet. My claim said "processing" for THREE WEEKS before finally changing to "paid" and then another week before I actually saw the money! The whole ESD system is designed to frustrate people into giving up. Also, be prepared that they might approve some weeks and deny others - that's what they did to me because of some stupid technicality about job search requirements even though I DID submit them. ESD is the WORST state agency by far!!

•Oh no, I really hope it doesn't take that long! I've been doing all my job search activities and documenting everything carefully. Did you end up appealing the weeks they denied?

•Yes I appealed and won after ANOTHER 6 weeks of waiting. Make sure you keep ALL documentation of EVERYTHING. They will try to trip you up on the smallest details. Take screenshots of your job search logs too - their system "lost" mine twice.

UPDATE: Just checked again this morning and now TWO more weeks have changed to "processing"! Still have two that say "pending" but definitely movement in the right direction. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

•Great news! They're clearly working through your weeks chronologically. This is a very positive sign - I'd expect the remaining weeks to change status in the next day or two, and payment would typically follow 1-3 business days after that. Keep us posted!
