Adjudication status changed on ESD account - reduction from 3 to 1 issue - good sign?

I'm on the brink of financial disaster and desperately need my unemployment benefits to start flowing. My landlord just handed me a 30-day pay or vacate notice, and my car loan company is threatening repossession. I've only been on unemployment for 3 weeks, but my budget is extremely tight with zero wiggle room. When I first filed my claim, I submitted EVERYTHING I could think of upfront - termination documentation, screenshots of texts with my former boss, personal situation details, and all the ID verification ESD requested. But every single week, a new adjudication issue would mysteriously appear on my account. As of yesterday, I had THREE separate adjudication issues pending. Here's what's weird - I just checked my ESD account again this morning, and now there's only ONE adjudication issue showing, and it has today's date on it (the others are gone completely). Could this be a good sign? Has anyone experienced their adjudication issues dropping from multiple to just one? Does this mean they're actually processing my claim and might approve it soon? Or am I getting my hopes up for nothing?

This is actually a very good sign! In my experience, when ESD resolves multiple adjudication issues and consolidates them into a single updated one, they're actively working on your claim. The updated date means an adjudicator has likely reviewed your documentation and either resolved or combined the issues. When I went through this last year, I received my determination within 5 business days after seeing this exact pattern. Keep checking your Notices/Letters section of your eServices account daily for any new determination letters.

OMG thank you for the reassurance!! This gives me some hope. I've been checking the Notices section obsessively but nothing new there yet. Any idea if I should keep submitting more documentation or just wait at this point?

not a good sign IMO... same thing happened 2 me and then they denied my claim completely lol. the whole system is rigged to deny valid claims if u ask me. took me 2 months to get it fixed after they messed it up

That's not necessarily true for everyone. Each claim is different, and while the system definitely has flaws, a reduction in adjudication issues often indicates progress. What matters is the specific reason for the adjudication - some are routine verification while others are more complex eligibility questions. Did you appeal your denial? The appeal process is actually quite fair if you document everything properly.

I had the EXACT same thing happen!!!! Had 4 adjudications, then suddenly only 1 with that day's date. Three days later I got paid, turns out they were finalizing my claim. The final adjudication was just them doing the last check before approving. Don't lose hope but also don't count on anything till the money hits your account. The adjudicator might call you so keep your phone nearby and answer even unknown numbers!

That's so good to hear! I'm literally answering every single call I get now, even the spam ones 😂 Did you have to call them at all during those last few days or did they just process it without any additional contact from you?

i wouldnt trust any of this tbh... ESD website glitches ALL THE TIME... could just be a system error and all 3 issues are still there but not displaying properly... happened to my sister last month

While glitches do happen, an updated date on the remaining issue usually indicates actual human activity on the claim, not just a display error. The ESD system typically timestamps activities when an adjudicator makes changes. But you make a good point - it's wise to not get hopes too high until there's an official determination letter or payment.

If you're facing imminent eviction and car repossession, you need to get through to an ESD agent ASAP. The change in adjudication issues is likely positive, but you can't afford to wait and see. Try using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - it helped me get through to an ESD agent in under 25 minutes when I was in a similar situation with multiple adjudications that suddenly changed. You can see how it works in their video demo here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Once you talk to an agent, they can tell you exactly what's happening with your claim and potentially expedite it due to your hardship situation. Make sure to mention your eviction notice when you speak with them - financial hardship can sometimes qualify you for expedited processing.

Thank you!! I've been trying to call ESD every day for the past week but always get the "high call volume" message and get disconnected. I'll check out that service - at this point I'd do anything to get through to someone who can help.

The reduction in adjudication issues is generally a positive sign, but I'd recommend taking two immediate actions: 1. Document your financial hardship - gather your eviction notice and car repossession warning to request expedited processing 2. Contact your local WorkSource office directly (not through the main ESD line). They sometimes have direct access to adjudicators and can flag urgent cases. This worked for me when I was facing eviction in 2023. As for the adjudication issues consolidating, typically this happens when they've resolved the simpler issues and are focusing on the one remaining factor affecting your eligibility. Keep filing your weekly claims without interruption while this gets resolved!

I didn't even think about WorkSource! There's an office about 15 minutes from me. I'll head there tomorrow morning and bring all my documentation. And yes, I'm definitely keeping up with my weekly claims even though it feels pointless sometimes since nothing is being paid out. Thanks for the advice!

not to change the subject but anyone know how long standby status lasts these days? my employer said ill be back to work in 6 weeks but i heard ESD only approves 4 weeks of standby now???

Standard standby is typically approved for up to 4 weeks, but can be extended to 8 weeks in some cases if your employer requests it specifically. This is different from your adjudication issue though - you should probably create your own post about standby status questions.

I've seen this pattern hundreds of times while helping people with their claims. Here's what's happening: when multiple adjudication issues exist, ESD adjudicators typically review them all at once. As they clear each issue, they sometimes consolidate any remaining questions into a single adjudication item with an updated timestamp. The fact that the date was updated today is significant - it means an actual human adjudicator is actively working on your claim right now. The reduction from 3 to 1 issue means they've likely resolved 2 of your issues already. Keep watching your account. You'll likely see one of three things happen within 3-7 business days: 1. A determination letter in your notices section 2. The final adjudication disappearing and payment processing 3. A call from the adjudicator if they need any final clarification Don't submit any additional documents unless specifically requested at this point - it can actually slow things down by putting you back in the review queue.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I'll resist the urge to upload more documents (I was about to send in even more proof). I'll watch for those three outcomes you mentioned. Knowing an actual human is looking at my claim gives me some relief!

Did you check if those other adjudication issues show as "resolved" somewhere in your account? Sometimes they don't completely disappear but move to a different section. And DEF mention your eviction notice if you get through to ESD - my friend got her claim expedited because of that exact situation!!

Great point about checking for resolved issues. In the eServices portal, sometimes resolved adjudications move to the "Decisions" section rather than disappearing entirely. This is another good indicator that progress is happening on the claim.
