Adjudication claims dropping from 3 to 2 without payment - normal ESD process?
Hey everyone, I'm noticing something strange with my ESD dashboard this morning. I originally had three weekly claims stuck in adjudication, but now it's showing only two. I haven't received any payments yet though, which is confusing me. This will be my 4th week filing weekly claims and I'm starting to worry about bills piling up. I reached out to my district's state representative last week (feeling desperate), and surprisingly she responded the same day! She said she emailed UI to try expediting my claim and even sent me a receipt of her message. She told me to keep my phone nearby in case ESD tries contacting me. One thing that caught my attention - she mentioned there's a mandatory 4-week waiting period if unemployment can't reach my former employer before they can move forward with my claim. Is it normal for adjudication claims to just disappear without payment? And does that 4-week employer contact rule sound familiar to anyone? I'm trying to figure out if I should feel hopeful about one claim dropping off or if it's just some weird glitch in the system. Any insights would be really appreciated!

Yes, this is actually pretty normal. One of your claims probably cleared adjudication but hasn't been processed for payment yet. When a claim leaves adjudication, it typically takes 24-48 hours before it shows up as 'paid' in your payment history. The fact that your state rep reached out is great - legislative inquiries often help speed things up. The 4-week waiting period your rep mentioned is accurate. If ESD can't reach your employer after multiple attempts, they have a policy to proceed with the claim after 4 weeks rather than letting it sit in limbo forever. They'll make their determination based on the information they have available. Keep filing your weekly claims as normal, and check your payment history tab, not just the homepage. Sometimes the homepage doesn't update as quickly. I'd expect you'll see a payment for that cleared week very soon.

•Thank you so much for explaining! I'll check the payment history tab - I've only been looking at the main dashboard. It's such a relief to hear this might actually be good news rather than another problem. Do you think I should still keep trying to call ESD, or just wait it out since one claim seems to be moving forward?

My claims did the EXACT same thing!! Had 3 in adjudication for like 5 weeks, then suddenly one disappeared but no money showed up. I freaked out and spent TWO DAYS trying to get through to ESD. When I finally got an agent, they told me the claim that disappeared was actually denied but the system hadn't updated to show me the determination letter yet!!! Check your letters/notices section on eServices like every few hours. Mine finally showed up and I had to file an appeal. Not saying yours is denied, could be approved and payment is processing, but definitely check for any new letters!!

The state rep's information is correct. When your employer doesn't respond to ESD's requests for information, they have to wait 4 weeks before they can proceed with just your side of the story. This is actually in WAC 192-120-030 if you want to look it up. As for claims dropping from adjudication without payment, there are three possibilities: 1. It was approved and payment is processing (usually appears within 48 hours) 2. It was denied and the determination letter is coming soon 3. They moved it to a different status while gathering more information You should receive a determination letter either way. If it's been more than 3 days since the claim disappeared and you haven't received payment or a letter, I'd recommend trying to contact ESD directly. The fact that one claim moved out of adjudication is generally a positive sign - it means they're actively working on your case.

•Thank you for the specific regulation reference! I had no idea this was an official rule. It's been about 36 hours since I noticed the change, so maybe I should wait one more day before panicking. The waiting and uncertainty is definitely the hardest part of this whole process.

If you're still having trouble getting answers from ESD after one more day, I'd highly recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in a similar situation with claims stuck in adjudication for weeks, and I couldn't get through on the phones no matter when I called. Claimyr helped me skip the hold time and connected me directly to an ESD agent who explained exactly what was happening with my claim and why one had disappeared. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Talking to an actual agent made all the difference for me - they could see notes in my file that weren't visible on my end. Turns out one of my claims had been approved but was delayed in payment processing because of a system flag.

i wouldnt count on that state rep actually doing anything tbh. mine said the same stuff last year and nothing happened faster. the 4 week thing is true tho, my roommate had that happen when his boss was being a jerk and not responding to ESD

•That's disappointing to hear. She seemed really helpful, but I guess I'll temper my expectations. Did your roommate eventually get approved after the 4 weeks?

Just wanted to add - make sure you're still completing your job search activities (3 per week) and documenting them properly even while in adjudication. I've seen people get approved for benefits only to have payments held because they didn't keep up with job search requirements during the waiting period. ESD can and does audit these, especially on claims that had adjudication issues.

•Oh that's a great point! Yes, I've been religiously doing my 3 activities each week and documenting everything. I'd hate to finally get through adjudication only to hit another roadblock because of job search requirements.

anyone know if the 4 week thing applies when they cant contact YOU?? my phone has been acting up and im worried i missed calls from esd

•No, that's different. If they can't reach you, they'll eventually make a determination based on available information, but it could go either way. They usually try to contact you multiple times and will also send letters. I'd recommend checking your correspondence in eServices and possibly updating your contact information. You might also want to call them proactively if you think you missed their calls.

Update: Good news everyone! One of the payments just showed up in my account this morning. It took about 72 hours from when it disappeared from adjudication to when the money arrived. The ESD website still doesn't show it as paid in the system yet, so definitely check your bank accounts like someone suggested! Still have two weeks in adjudication, but progress is progress. Thanks for all the helpful advice!
