Pending issue disappeared from my ESD adjudication list - does this mean progress?
I've been stuck in adjudication hell for nearly 8 weeks now. My savings are completely drained, and I'm getting desperate. Last Monday I finally broke down and called the governor's office (was that even the right move?). Surprisingly, I got a call back from ESD that SAME DAY saying my claim would be resolved by the end of that week. Well, it's now a whole week later, and my claim still shows as pending. The weird thing is that under "pending issues" I had 4 items all saying "adjudication in progress" but this morning I noticed one of them disappeared completely. Now there's only 3 pending issues, but there's absolutely no indication of what happened to that 4th issue - no updates, no messages, nothing in my notices section. Does this mean someone is actually working on my case? Or is this just another ESD system glitch that's going to drag my claim out even longer? Has anyone else seen pending issues just vanish without explanation? I'm so stressed about this I can barely sleep.

This happened to me back in Feb! One by one my pending issues started disappearing over about a week. Then my payments started coming through a few days after the last one disappeared. So yeah it probably means someone is working on ur claim finally.

•Oh man, that gives me some hope! Did you get backpay for all those weeks too? I'm so behind on bills at this point that I need every cent they owe me.

Yes, this is a good sign! When a pending issue disappears, it typically means an ESD adjudicator has resolved that particular issue. They work through each issue individually, so seeing one drop off means they've started the process. The remaining issues may take a few more days to clear, but this definitely indicates progress. The fact that you contacted the governor's office likely helped get your claim prioritized. It's one of the more effective escalation methods when claims get stuck.

•The governor's office trick actually works? I've been stuck in adjudication for 6 weeks and getting nowhere with regular ESD channels. Do you just call the main governor's office number or is there a specific department?

•Great, now I'm back to being worried again. Did you end up getting your issues resolved eventually? What finally worked for you?

A disappearing pending issue is definitely progress! The adjudicator is working through each issue one by one. Here's what's likely happening behind the scenes: 1. They review each pending issue separately 2. When they resolve one, it vanishes from your list 3. They may need more time for the other issues, especially if they require different types of verification Continue filing your weekly claims while you wait. Since you've already had contact from ESD after reaching the governor's office, you're on the right track. If nothing changes in another week, try contacting your state representative as well - they can sometimes help move things along.

•Thanks for explaining! I'll definitely keep filing my weekly claims. Do you know if there's any way to see what that resolved issue was about? I still have no idea what any of these adjudication issues are even for - they don't explain anything on the website.

If u really wanna know what's going on u should try Claimyr. It got me through to an actual ESD agent in like 15 min when I'd been trying for weeks on my own. They can tell u exactly what the issues are and sometimes even fix them while ur on the phone. Helped me understand exactly what was happening with my adjudication. Check out their demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 - their site is claimyr.com

I work in HR and deal with ESD claims all the time. A disappearing issue without notification typically means it was resolved in your favor. If it was denied, you would have received a determination letter. The fact that you got a call after contacting the governor's office and now see movement is VERY promising. They're likely working through your claim systematically now. One issue that's confusing though - did they specifically say "end of week" or give an actual date? Sometimes agents say things will be resolved "by the end of the week" when they really mean "it's in process and should be done within a week or two." The ESD timeframes are notoriously optimistic.

•They specifically said "by the end of this week" which I took to mean that same week. But you're right, maybe they meant a more general timeframe. At least seeing some movement gives me hope that I'm not completely forgotten in the system.

This is definitely progress! I was in your exact situation in January. Had 5 pending issues, then over about 10 days they started disappearing one by one. Got my first payment 3 days after the last one cleared. All the backpay came at once too - it was such a relief after waiting so long! One thing to know is that once they start working on your claim, it usually continues moving forward. The fact that you got them to call you and now see movement means your claim is definitely being actively worked. Keep checking every morning - my issues always seemed to clear overnight, and I'd see the changes in the morning.

•Thank you for sharing your experience! It's so helpful to hear from someone who went through something similar. I'll definitely keep checking every morning. Did you do anything special to get them to start working on your claim, or did it just eventually happen?

Forgot to mention - make sure you're still doing your 3 job search activities every week and logging them! Even during adjudication, you need to keep up with those or you could create new issues for yourself.

•Yes, I've been religiously doing my job search activities and documenting everything. I'm terrified of giving them any reason to delay things further!

the unemployment system is designed to be confusing and frustrating so people give up. dont let them win!!

•^^^ this is 100% true. my friend who works at a state agency (not ESD) said they literally count on a certain % of people giving up.
