Adjudicator said claim looks approved but still pending - what happens next?
Had a phone call with my adjudicator today (finally!!!) after waiting 6 weeks in adjudication. She was really nice and said my claim for standby status "looks like it'll be approved" but that she needed her supervisor to finalize everything. She told me to check my account tomorrow morning but I'm super anxious and can't stop checking it. My eServices account still shows all weeks as pending - is this normal? Has anyone gone through this before? Does "looks like it'll be approved" usually mean it WILL be approved? Or could her supervisor still deny everything? I'm down to my last $240 and rent is due next week... feel like I'm going to have a panic attack checking my account every 5 minutes.

This is actually a good sign! When the adjudicator tells you it looks approved, it usually means they've made their determination in your favor and are just waiting on the final sign-off. The supervisor review is mostly procedural. Your weeks will likely switch from pending to paid within 48-72 hours after the supervisor approves it. The ESD system typically updates overnight, so you might not see changes until tomorrow morning.

•Thank you so much for the reassurance! Do you know if they'll pay all the back weeks at once? I've been in adjudication since January 12th so there's like 6 full weeks waiting.

Based on my experience working with many ESD claims, when an adjudicator tells you it "looks like it'll be approved," that's generally very positive news. The supervisor review is standard procedure for many types of claims, especially those involving standby status. Typically, once approved, you'll see all your pending weeks update to "paid" status simultaneously, usually within 1-3 business days. The funds for all back weeks are typically released as one lump sum. If you don't see updates by Friday, I'd recommend trying to contact ESD again. If you have trouble getting through on the phones (which is common), you might want to try Claimyr (claimyr.com). I've had clients use their service to get through to ESD quickly instead of waiting on hold for hours. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3

•Waste of money. Just keep calling ESD yourself. Why pay for something that should be free???

•Because time is money... I spent 5 hours on hold last week and got disconnected THREE times. So frustrating! Will check out that video link, thanks.

Remember that ESD's system updates are SUPER slow sometimes. I got my determination letter in the mail before my online account even showed the status change! So don't panic if it stays pending for a bit longer. Check your mailbox too!

THE SYSTEM IS RIGGED!!!! They make u WAIT weeks in "adjudication" then make u beg for YOUR OWN MONEY! I was told the SAME EXACT THING last year and guess what? THREE MORE WEEKS of "pending" before anything happened! They lie to get u off the phone!

•That's not typical of most experiences I've seen. While ESD can be frustratingly slow, when an adjudicator specifically says it will be approved and mentions supervisor review, that usually indicates the claim is moving forward. The supervisor review is a required step for quality control, not a delaying tactic.

UPDATE!!! You were all right! Woke up this morning and all my weeks switched to PAID!!! The money isn't in my account yet but the status changed. THANK YOU everyone for helping me not completely lose my mind yesterday. Looks like their system does update overnight!

•That's great news! The funds should hit your account within 24-48 hours depending on your bank. Congratulations on getting through this process!

My husband went through something similar with his construction job layoff. When we called, nobody even mentioned a supervisor review? I wonder if that's only for certain types of claims or if his adjudicator just skipped telling us that part. His took exactly 24 hours to change from pending to paid after talking to the adjudicator. I remember because we were checking constantly too!
