5 weeks stuck in ESD adjudication with no updates - normal wait time?

I'm seriously starting to stress out about my claim. I've now filed for 5 consecutive weeks, but my status is still showing as 'pending' with 'adjudication in progress.' I've checked my eServices account multiple times and don't see any alerts or notifications saying I need to upload additional documents or provide more information. My online portal looks completely normal except for that frustrating 'pending' status that hasn't changed in over a month. I've tried calling but can't get through to anyone. For those who've gone through adjudication before - is 5+ weeks a normal wait time? Or should I be doing something else to move this along? My savings are getting dangerously low and I'm really starting to worry.

5 weeks is definitely on the longer side but not unheard of. ESD is ALWAYS backed up. I waited 7 weeks last year before mine finally switched from adjudication to paid. The most annoying part is they don't tell u anything during the wait!

7 weeks?! That's insane. Did you do anything special to finally get it resolved or did it just suddenly update one day?

The standard adjudication period is supposed to be 2-3 weeks, but the reality is many claims are taking 4-8 weeks right now. There are several things you should check: 1. Make sure your identity verification is complete 2. Verify all your employment history information is accurate 3. Check if your former employer is contesting the claim 4. Continue filing your weekly claims regardless of pending status If you need to speak with an agent (which I recommend after 5 weeks), try calling right when they open at 8:00 AM. Be prepared to redial constantly.

Thank you for the detailed info. I'm positive my identity verification is complete, and I don't think my employer is contesting anything - we parted on good terms when my contract ended. But maybe there's something else holding it up. I've been trying to call at 8am but can never get through.

Mine was stuck for 3 months!!! ESD is the absolute worst. When I finally got through to someone, they said there was a 'flag' on my account that needed to be manually reviewed, but nobody had gotten to it. The whole time I was stressing and nobody bothered to even tell me why it was held up. Keep calling them every single day until you get through.

After dealing with multiple adjudication delays over the past couple years, I've found that the key is actually getting through to a live person at ESD. The online system just doesn't address adjudication issues effectively. I recently discovered a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to an ESD agent in about 15 minutes instead of spending days redialing. They have a video demo that shows exactly how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Once I got through to an actual person, they were able to see that my adjudication was complete but hadn't been properly processed in the system. The agent manually updated it and my payments started processing within 2 days.

Thank you for the suggestion! I'm getting desperate enough to try anything at this point. Did they tell you what was actually causing the delay when you finally reached someone?

I've checked several times and don't see any alerts, but maybe it's hidden somewhere. So frustrating that their system doesn't clearly show what's needed!

this isn't helpful but I just wanted to say I'm in the exact same boat - week 6 of pending/adjudication with absolutely zero communication from ESD. it's absurd they expect people to just wait months without income or explanation. solidarity, friend.

Thanks for the solidarity! It helps knowing I'm not alone, though I'm sorry you're dealing with this too. Hope both our claims get resolved soon.

I want to add something important: while waiting for adjudication, make sure you're still completing your job search activities (3 per week) and documenting them properly. I've seen cases where claims are finally approved but then immediately flagged for job search review. You don't want to solve one problem only to create another.

That's great advice, thank you. I've been keeping careful records of all my job applications and interviews, so at least that part should be solid.

Update on my situation - I called using the service I mentioned earlier and got through to someone who confirmed there was a specific issue with my identity verification that was holding things up, even though my account showed everything was complete. They fixed it on the spot and my payments started processing within 48 hours. Sometimes you just need to get to a human who can actually look at what's happening behind the scenes.

This is why the ESD system is pure garbage. Why have an online portal if it doesn't actually tell you what's wrong with your claim??? Totally broken system that puts all the burden on us.

I decided to try Claimyr today after seeing the recommendation here, and I FINALLY got through to someone at ESD! Turns out there was a verification issue with one of my previous employers that wasn't showing up anywhere in my online account. The agent was able to verify the information right there on the call and told me my claim should be processed within 3-5 business days. So relieved to finally know what was going on. Will update if the payments actually start coming through. Thanks everyone for your help and support!
