If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Thanks everyone for all the helpful info. I feel much better about tackling my taxes now. Going to double-check my 1099-G against my payment history and then bite the bullet on whatever I owe. At least now I know to have taxes withheld if I ever need unemployment again.

Good luck with your taxes! It's definitely a learning experience the first time you have to deal with unemployment benefits on your tax return.

0 coins

Thanks! Definitely not something they teach you in school but good to know for the future.

Last tip from someone who's been through this multiple times - keep good records of all your unemployment-related documents. Payment confirmations, 1099-G forms, any correspondence with Washington ESD. Makes tax time much easier and helps if you ever need to prove anything to the IRS.

Great advice. I wish I had been more organized about this stuff from the beginning.

Live and learn! At least you know for next time. Organization really pays off when dealing with government agencies.

For anyone else who needs to talk to ESD directly about PFML stuff, that Claimyr service I mentioned earlier is at claimyr.com. Super helpful when you actually need to speak to a human there instead of getting stuck in phone tree hell.

I'm definitely bookmarking that for when I apply. Thanks for sharing!

One last thing - start gathering your documents early. You'll need things like your social security card, ID, and employment info. Better to have everything ready before you need to apply.

Great advice! I'll start putting together a folder with everything I need.

Thanks everyone for all the info. Sounds like I'm stuck with just the workers comp benefits for now. Hopefully my case gets resolved soon so I can get back to work or at least apply for unemployment if I can't find a job right away.

0 coins

Hang in there. The workers comp process is frustrating but it does eventually get resolved. Make sure you're documenting everything for your case.

Good luck with everything. Hope you heal up quickly and can get back to earning full wages soon.

This whole discussion makes me glad I have disability insurance through work. Workers comp alone definitely isn't enough to live on if you get seriously injured.

0 coins

Not everyone has that option though. A lot of construction and manual labor jobs don't offer good disability coverage.

0 coins

True, and even when they do offer it, a lot of people can't afford the premiums on top of everything else.

Filed mine at 11 PM on a Wednesday and it went smoothly. I think the late night hours are underrated - most people aren't up filing claims at that time.

0 coins

That's a good point about late night. I'm usually up late anyway so that might work for me too.

0 coins

Just make sure you're alert enough to answer everything accurately. Mistakes on the initial claim can cause major headaches later.

Don't overthink the timing too much. Yes some times are better than others but the most important thing is just getting it filed. I stressed about the perfect time for three days before just doing it, and it worked fine.

0 coins

You're probably right. I need to just pick a time and go for it. All this advice has been super helpful though!

0 coins

Agreed. The sooner you file, the sooner your waiting week starts. Don't delay over finding the 'perfect' time.

0 coins

Don't forget that you need to register with WorkSource too. That's part of the job search requirement. You can do it online but you have to keep your profile updated.

0 coins

When do you have to register with WorkSource? Right away or can you wait?

0 coins

You should register within your first week of filing for unemployment. It's one of the ongoing eligibility requirements.

BOTTOM LINE: Washington ESD looks at why you're unemployed, whether you're available for work, and if you earned enough wages to qualify. If you meet all three criteria, you should be able to file. The specific reasons are less important than being able to prove your case if questioned.

0 coins

Good luck! Remember to keep detailed records of everything and don't be afraid to ask questions if you get stuck in the process.

And if you need to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD, don't waste hours trying to get through. Claimyr saved me so much time and frustration when I needed answers about my claim.
