Here's something that might help - if your claim is taking longer than expected, make sure you didn't miss any follow-up items in your online account. Sometimes they'll request additional documentation and if you miss it, your claim just sits there.
Also important - if you move to another state while collecting Washington ESD benefits, you need to notify them immediately. The rules can get complicated with interstate claims so don't just assume you can keep filing from a new state.
The whole process is stressful enough without having to worry about all these rules and deadlines. I wish Washington ESD made it easier to understand what you're supposed to do.
Honestly I was in a similar situation last year and used Claimyr to get through to Washington ESD when I had questions about my base period earnings. The agent was able to calculate everything for me over the phone and confirm I met the requirements. Saved me a lot of worry and I knew exactly what to expect before filing.
That sounds really helpful. I might look into that since I'm still confused about the earnings calculation.
Their video demo explains it pretty well - https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ. For me it was worth it to get peace of mind about my eligibility.
Bottom line - file your claim as soon as possible and answer all questions honestly. Washington ESD will determine your eligibility based on your work history and the reason for your unemployment. With 14 months of work history and being laid off, you should be fine.
This is probably a dumb question but do you have to wait for your current payment to process before changing the direct deposit info, or can you change it anytime?
I love how this turned into such a comprehensive thread about Washington ESD direct deposit changes. Way more helpful than the official FAQ on their website!

This whole thread makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one struggling with this. It's so stressful when you need help and can't reach anyone.

Final thought - document everything! Keep track of when you called, how long you waited, if you got disconnected, etc. If you ever need to escalate or file a complaint, having that record helps.

•That's really smart. I should have been doing that from the beginning

•Great advice. Also take notes during your call about what the agent tells you, including their name or ID number
