Last tip - if your claim gets stuck in adjudication or you have any complex issues, don't hesitate to get help contacting ESD. That Claimyr service I mentioned earlier really came through for me when I needed it most.
Update: I just finished filing my initial claim! It took about 45 minutes but wasn't as bad as I expected. Thanks everyone for all the help and advice. Now I just need to wait and see if it gets approved.
One last thing - keep copies of EVERYTHING. Every document you submit, every correspondence from Washington ESD, your job search log, all of it. If there are ever questions or appeals, you'll need that paper trail.
Just remember the system is designed to help people who are unemployed through no fault of their own. As long as you're honest and follow the rules, you should be fine. Don't let the bureaucracy intimidate you.

One last tip - if you worked in another state in the past 18 months, you might need to file an interstate claim. Washington ESD can help you figure out which state you should file in based on where you earned the most wages.

•I've only worked in Washington, so that shouldn't be an issue for me. But good to know for others.

•Interstate claims can be tricky. It's definitely worth using something like Claimyr to talk to an agent if you have that situation.

Good luck with your application! Having been through this before, the most important thing is being accurate and honest with all your information. Washington ESD will verify everything anyway, so don't try to hide anything or guess at details you're not sure about.

•Smart plan. Weekend filing might mean less website traffic too, so hopefully the system runs smoothly for you.
