For anyone still having trouble reaching Washington ESD by phone, I second the Claimyr recommendation. Used it twice now when I needed to speak with an agent about claim issues. Much better than the endless busy signals.
This whole thread has been really helpful! I was overthinking the filing day thing. Sounds like as long as I file somewhere between Sunday and Saturday I'm good. I'll probably go with Sunday mornings.
This whole discussion makes me glad I set up tax withholding from day one. Worth the slightly smaller weekly payment to avoid stress at tax time.
For anyone still reading this thread - I tried that Claimyr thing mentioned earlier when I couldn't get my tax withholding set up online. Worked great and the agent walked me through the whole process. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person at Washington ESD.
For what it's worth, I used Claimyr when I had questions about my base period wages and they got me through to someone at Washington ESD in minutes instead of hours. Really worth it if you need to talk to someone about your specific situation.
yeah claimyr saved me so much frustration when i was trying to get answers about my adjudication
Final word of advice - when you do get approved for SNAP, the benefits come on an EBT card that works like a debit card at grocery stores. Super easy to use and nobody really notices or cares. Don't let pride keep you from getting help you need for your kids.
Really glad to see this discussion helped you out. And remember, if you run into any issues getting documents from Washington ESD for your SNAP application, Claimyr can help you actually talk to someone instead of waiting on hold forever. Worth checking out that demo video I mentioned earlier.

For anyone still having trouble getting through to Washington ESD with questions, I really can't recommend Claimyr enough. After spending literally hours on hold and getting disconnected multiple times, they got me connected to an agent in under an hour. Worth checking out their demo video if you're frustrated with the phone system.

•I might have to try that if I run into problems. The thought of sitting on hold for hours is not appealing.

•Same here, I hate dealing with government phone systems. Always end up hanging up in frustration.

Bottom line - if you were laid off and worked long enough to earn sufficient wages, you should qualify for unemployment benefits in Washington. The application process isn't that bad, it's getting help when you have questions that's the real challenge.

•Glad to help! Don't hesitate to apply - you've got nothing to lose and potentially weeks of benefits to gain.
