FINAL THOUGHT: The waiting sucks but Washington ESD is generally pretty good about processing claims efficiently now. Just be prepared mentally for the 2-3 week wait and you'll be fine.
Hope your claim goes smoothly OP! And for anyone else reading this who needs to actually reach Washington ESD by phone, I can't recommend Claimyr enough. Worth checking out their demo video if you're facing long wait times.
Bottom line for the OP - with 8 months of work you very likely qualify as long as you were working decent hours. Don't stress too much about it, just file when you become unemployed and let Washington ESD make the determination.
You sound like you have a good attitude about this whole situation. That helps a lot when dealing with unemployment stuff. Best of luck!
Bottom line - plan for the full 26 weeks but hope you don't need them all. The job market is unpredictable so it's better to be prepared for a long search.
One last thing - if you have any issues with your claim or questions about your benefit duration, definitely try that Claimyr service. I was skeptical at first but it really works for getting through to ESD when you need answers.
I'll keep that in mind if I run into any problems. Hopefully the process goes smoothly but it's good to know there are options if I need help.
I used Claimyr too when I had questions about my remaining weeks. Definitely worth it to get accurate information directly from ESD instead of guessing.

One more thing - your 26 weeks doesn't reset if you work for just a few days or weeks. You need to work a substantial amount and earn enough wages to qualify for a new claim. Otherwise you're stuck with whatever weeks you have left from your original claim.

•You need to earn at least 6 times your weekly benefit amount in covered employment after your claim started. It's not about time, it's about earnings.

•This is why temp work can sometimes hurt you if you don't make enough to reset your claim but use up your remaining weeks.

Washington state unemployment duration rules haven't changed much in recent years. 26 weeks is pretty standard unless there's some major economic crisis that triggers federal extensions. Plan for 26 weeks and you should be good.

•Good luck with your job search! Construction should pick up in spring so hopefully you won't need the full 26 weeks.
