One last tip - when you file, make sure you have a quiet place and good internet connection. The application takes about 30-45 minutes and you don't want to get kicked out halfway through and have to start over.
been following this thread and wanted to share that i got fired for performance last month and my claim was approved in 2 weeks with no issues. employer didn't even contest it. sometimes people overthink these things
The bottom line is that unemployment insurance exists for situations exactly like this. You pay into the system through your paychecks, so don't feel bad about using it when you need to. Performance issues happen and that's why we have this safety net.
Whatever you do, don't delay filing if you do get laid off. Benefits are only backdated to the week you actually file, not when you became unemployed.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info. This thread has been way more useful than anything I found on the official Washington ESD website. At least now I have a better idea of what to expect.
Just went through this process myself and the hardest part was actually getting someone at Washington ESD on the phone to ask questions. If you need to talk to them, definitely consider using that Claimyr service - saved me so much frustration.
How much does something like that cost though? I'm always skeptical of services that charge to help with government stuff.
Bottom line for OP: 8 months of work should definitely qualify you for unemployment benefits in Washington. The system looks at your total wages over the base period, not how long you worked at any specific job. You should be all set if the unfortunate happens.

Mine got approved at exactly the 3 week mark. Got the determination letter on a Tuesday and first payment hit my account that Thursday. Hang in there!

•That's encouraging! Hopefully mine follows a similar timeline.

•Same here, 3 weeks almost to the day. Must be their internal processing schedule.

If you need to speak with someone urgently about your claim status, I actually had success with that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Worth checking out their demo video to see if it would help your situation. Sometimes you just need a real person to look at your account.

•I might have to try that if I don't hear something soon. Thanks for the recommendation.
