One last tip - if you do file and get approved, make sure you understand the job search requirements right away. That's where a lot of people run into problems later.
The key is patience but also staying on top of it. Check your account daily for any requests for information. If they need something and you don't respond quickly, it can delay everything by weeks.
One last tip: if you had any other income in the weeks before filing (like vacation pay or severance), make sure to report it accurately. Errors there can cause delays and overpayment issues later.
Is there any penalty for filing one extra weekly claim after you've already gone back to work full-time? I filed last week not realizing I was supposed to report my work from the previous week.
The whole unemployment system needs an overhaul. Why is something as basic as closing a claim so confusing? Other states have much clearer processes.
Agreed. The lack of clear guidance creates so much unnecessary stress for people who are already dealing with job transitions.
At least we have resources like this forum and services like Claimyr to help navigate the system. Better than being completely on your own.

Just remember that unemployment benefits are temporary. Keep looking for work and document your job search activities. The weekly claims are just one part of staying eligible for benefits while you search for a new job.

•Absolutely! I'm definitely still actively looking for work. The unemployment is just to help me pay bills while I search.

•That's exactly the right attitude. Good luck with your job search and your weekly claims!

I've been using the mobile version of the SecureAccess Washington website to file my weekly claims and it works pretty well. Sometimes easier than trying to use a computer if you're having technical issues.

•I didn't know you could do it on mobile! That's really convenient.
