Just want to add that even if you're not sure about eligibility, file anyway. Let Washington ESD make the determination rather than assuming you won't qualify. Worst case they say no, but you might be surprised.
DEFINITELY file today or tomorrow. Don't overthink it. The application process is pretty straightforward and walks you through everything step by step. You can always provide additional documentation later if needed.
Remember you can also file an appeal if Washington ESD initially denies your claim. A lot of people don't realize they have that right and just give up after the first decision.
File ASAP! I waited a week after getting fired thinking I might get rehired and it just delayed everything. Washington ESD can backdate your claim to when you were terminated.
hang in there! I know the waiting is stressful but you'll get through it. Most people do get approved and then wonder why they worried so much.
Just remember to keep track of your job search activities even before you're officially approved. You'll need to report them retroactively sometimes.
Does anyone know if there's a limit to how many weeks you can work part-time while collecting benefits? Or can you do it for your entire claim year?
There's no specific limit on how many weeks you can work part-time while collecting, but your total benefit amount is still limited to your maximum claim amount for the year.
I wish they would simplify this whole process. Between tracking hours, earnings, job searches, and all the reporting requirements, it's like a part-time job just managing unemployment benefits!
At least having clear info like this thread helps. Better than trying to decode Washington ESD's website on your own.
This is another reason I was glad to find Claimyr - being able to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD to clarify all these rules saved me so much stress and confusion.

For anyone else reading this - if you need to talk to Washington ESD about your specific situation, I had good luck with Claimyr recently. Much easier than trying to get through on the phone yourself.

•How long did it take them to get you connected to an agent?

•Maybe 15 minutes total? Way better than the 2+ hours I spent trying to call myself.
