TWC silent on backdating request - 4 emails, no response. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment benefits. I've sent multiple emails to the ombudsman (4 times now!) about backdating my benefits to August 9th. That's when my company's NLP upgrade unexpectedly cut my hours and wages. At first, I thought it was temporary, but it kept going. I filed my claim on September 1st once I realized it wasn't just a short-term glitch. I've been trying to get them to backdate it, but I haven't heard anything back. It's been weeks since my first email. Anyone else dealing with this kind of silence from them? Any advice on how to actually get a response?

Ugh, I feel ya. The unemployment office is like a black hole sometimes. Have you tried calling them directly? I know it's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get through.

Yeah, I've been trying to call but it's impossible to get through. Always busy or disconnected. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and be ready to dial the second they open. It's still a pain, but your chances are way better.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

I was in the same boat a few months ago. It took forever, but I finally got through using this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool. It dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to your phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm skeptical. How do we know this isn't just some scam?

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. I was desperate and took a chance. It worked for me, saved me hours of frustration. But yeah, do your own research.

Can confirm, I've used it too. Pricey but worth it when you're pulling your hair out trying to get through.

Have you considered reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can light a fire under the unemployment office's a**.

Omg, the unemployment system is such a joke. I've been waiting 3 months for them to fix an "error" on my claim. It's like they don't even care that people are struggling to pay bills. 🤬

Preach! 👏 It's like they forget we're real people with real bills. The whole system needs an overhaul.

Here's what I've learned from dealing with unemployment for way too long: 1. Document EVERYTHING. Every call, email, letter. Keep a log with dates and names. 2. Be persistent but polite. The people answering phones didn't create the mess. 3. Use multiple channels - phone, email, online portal if available. 4. Contact your state rep or senator. They can often get things moving. 5. Check if there's a specific backdating form or process. Some states have this. 6. If all else fails, consider filing an appeal. Sometimes this is the only way to get eyes on your case. 7. Look into legal aid services in your area. Some offer free help with unemployment issues. Hang in there. The system sucks, but don't give up. You're entitled to those benefits.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start documenting everything better. Didn't even think about legal aid, that's a great idea.

Not to be that guy, but are you sure you're eligible for backdating? Some states have specific rules about when you can backdate and why. Might be worth double-checking the fine print.

That's a fair point. I've checked and re-checked, and I believe I am eligible. But you're right, it's always good to be sure.

I'm down. This is ridiculous. We should start a petition or something.

Count me in. Maybe we could get local news involved? Nothing lights a fire under bureaucrats like bad press.

Hey, just a thought - have you checked your spam folder? I know it sounds dumb, but I once missed an important unemployment email because it got filtered as spam. Worth a look!

Oh man, I feel so dumb. I just checked and there was actually an email from them in there! It doesn't solve everything, but at least I know they received my request. Thanks for the tip!
