TWC ID.me verification nightmare - Need state rep contact info to save my home

I've been stuck in ID.me verification hell with TWC for TWO MONTHS now! Everything I've tried has failed - uploaded my documents THREE times, spent hours on calls that disconnect, and sent countless messages through the portal with zero response. My benefits are completely locked, I can't even submit my appeal because the system won't let me access anything! I'm at my breaking point. Mortgage is 45 days past due ($2,750) and my car payment is about to hit 60 days. The bank already sent me the first foreclosure warning letter yesterday. Someone mentioned contacting my state representative but I have no idea which one handles TWC issues or how to reach them. Has anyone successfully gotten help this way? PLEASE share contact info if you have it - I'm desperate and running out of time. 🙏

Hi there - I was in a similar situation last year and contacting my state rep actually worked! First, you need to find your specific rep based on your address. Go to https://house.texas.gov/members/find-your-representative/ and enter your home address. Once you have your rep's info, call their district office (not the Austin office) and explain your situation specifically mentioning the foreclosure risk. They have TWC liaisons who can escalate your case. Make sure to have your TWC claim ID, the dates you've attempted verification, and documentation of your attempted contacts with TWC. The more organized your information, the faster they can help.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I just looked mine up and it's Rep. Martinez in my district. Going to call first thing tomorrow morning. Did you have to send them any documents or just explain everything over the phone? I'm worried they'll just tell me to keep waiting like everyone else has.

The state rep thing is hit or miss tbh. I tried this with mine (Rep. Johnson) and his office basically just forwarded my info to the same TWC general inbox that was already ignoring me. Took them 3 wks to even get back to me saying they "submitted an inquiry" 🙄 If you're about to lose your home, you need to get through to an actual TWC rep TODAY, not wait for govt offices. Have you tried Claimyr? It's the only thing that worked for me after weeks of busy signals. The service connects you directly to a TWC agent by holding your place in line. Check out their demo video: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U?si=kNxmh025COIlIzKh Cost me like a coffee but finally got my ID.me issue resolved in one call once I actually reached a human being. Their website is claimyr.com

I second this! My sister used Claimyr when her account got locked after she tried the ID.me verification. She got through to a real person at TWC who fixed it while she was on the phone.

did you try doing the ID.me video call verification? thats how i got mine to finally work. the regular upload option never worked for me either. you have to click the little link at the bottom thats like "verify through video call" or something. waited about 35 min but the guy on the call fixed it right away

I did try the video call twice! First time the agent said my driver's license was "too reflective" under my lighting and disconnected. Second time I waited 50 mins and then my internet dropped for literally 10 seconds and I lost my place in line. Haven't been able to get another video slot since then - says "all agents busy" every time.

When you're dealing with something as serious as potential foreclosure, you really need to pursue multiple paths simultaneously. Here's what I recommend: 1. Contact your state representative as suggested above 2. File an official complaint with the TWC Ombudsman (https://www.twc.texas.gov/contact-information-texas-workforce-commission) 3. Reach out to your county's Legal Aid office - many offer free assistance with unemployment issues when housing is at risk 4. Document EVERYTHING - dates, times, reference numbers of all communication attempts 5. If you have any medical reason that might have affected your ability to complete verification, request a reasonable accommodation The ID.me verification issues have been a nightmare for many people in Texas. The system simply wasn't designed to handle certain document types or special circumstances. State reps can help, but their effectiveness varies by district and current workload.

Thank you for these suggestions! I didn't even know about the TWC Ombudsman option. I'll definitely try that tomorrow along with calling my state rep. Do you happen to know if the Legal Aid offices require appointments or can I just walk in? The website for my county isn't very clear.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS RIGGED TO MAKE PEOPLE GIVE UP!!! 😡 I struggled with ID.me for 6 WEEKS before finally getting through. TWC is deliberately making the verification impossible so they don't have to pay benefits. My brother-in-law works for a state agency (not TWC) and he says they KNOW the system is broken but won't fix it because it saves them money when people give up!!

While I understand your frustration, this isn't entirely accurate. The ID.me system is actually a third-party identity verification service that TWC contracted with to reduce fraud, not to deny legitimate claims. The implementation has been problematic, yes, but it's not a conspiracy to deny benefits. The backlog is real though - according to the last TWC commission meeting (you can watch these online), there are currently over 14,000 pending identity verification issues in the system. They've added staff but they're prioritizing cases where benefits have been on hold the longest. OP: Make sure when you talk to your state rep that you mention exactly how long your benefits have been held up. This will help them advocate for your case to be prioritized based on the current triage system.

This happened to me too! ID.me is the worst. Have you tried logging in using a completely different browser? Mine would never work on Chrome but finally went through on Firefox. Also try from a computer instead of phone if you haven't already.

I've tried Chrome, Edge and even my kid's school laptop with Firefox! Same error every time saying my verification couldn't be processed. It's definitely something wrong on their end because my documents uploaded fine (shows green checkmark) but then the system just hangs on the final verification step.

when i had problems with verification i went to the actual workforce office in person. theres usually a twc person there who can help with the computer systems. brought all my documents and they helped me get it sorted. took like 2 hours of waiting but better than losing your house right?

That's a great idea! I didn't realize you could go in person for ID.me issues. The Workforce Solutions office near me is about 30 miles away but definitely worth the drive if they can help. Do you know if I need an appointment or can I just walk in?

One thing to note about contacting your state representative - make sure you're reaching out to your STATE representative, not your federal Congressional representative. Many people make this mistake. State reps handle TWC issues since unemployment is administered at the state level. Also, when you call their office, ask specifically for the staff member who handles constituent services or TWC matters. This person will know exactly who to contact at TWC to escalate your case. One more point - if you're 45 days behind on your mortgage, you should immediately contact your mortgage servicer and ask about hardship options. Many have programs that can pause foreclosure proceedings while you're actively working to resolve government benefits issues. The key is to contact them BEFORE they file formal foreclosure paperwork.

This is really helpful advice - thank you! I called my mortgage company last week and they basically said they can't help until I have some proof of incoming funds. They suggested getting a hardship letter from TWC explaining the delay in benefits, but of course I can't get anyone at TWC to even speak to me to request that letter. It's a horrible catch-22.

Something important that no one has mentioned yet - ID.me verification issues are usually categorized as "identity verification issues" in the TWC system, which means your claim is probably on hold with an identity verification flag. When you speak with your state representative's office, make sure you specifically mention that you need help with an "identity verification hold" on your unemployment claim. This precise terminology will help them route your case to the correct department at TWC. Additionally, if you've been locked out completely, you might also have a separate "account access" issue that needs to be addressed simultaneously. These are handled by different teams at TWC, so being specific about both problems will speed up resolution. Lastly, document every attempt you've made to resolve this (dates of ID.me attempts, TWC calls, etc.) as this documentation will be helpful if you end up needing to file an appeal for backdated benefits once your identity is verified.

Thank you for these specific terms! I've been saying "ID.me problem" which probably isn't helping. I'll use "identity verification hold" when I call tomorrow. And yes, I've documented everything so far - have a notebook with all my attempts, reference numbers, and even screenshots of the error messages. Hopefully that will help my case.
