Received conflicting PA UC emails - approved then disqualified in the same day?
So confused right now!! I just checked my email and saw a message from PA UC saying I was DISQUALIFIED for benefits. I was freaking out because I really need this money for rent next month. Then literally 20 minutes later, I got ANOTHER email saying I'm actually QUALIFIED and eligible to receive benefits!! Has anyone else dealt with this? Which one am I supposed to believe??? I tried logging into my account but the system is giving me an error. I've been trying to call the UC service center all morning but just getting busy signals. Why would they send completely opposite decisions?? Help!!

The same exact thing happened to me in January! I got the disqualification email first, then the approval email about 30 mins later. When I finally got through to someone, they said the system sometimes sends out the wrong notice first before correcting itself. The second email (the approval) is usually the correct one. But definitely keep trying to reach them to confirm.

•Thank you!!! That makes me feel a little better. Did you end up getting your benefits ok after all that confusion?

This is a common system glitch that happened to several of my clients. The second email (qualification notice) is almost always the correct one, but you should verify this by checking your portal under 'Claim Status' and 'Monetary Determination.' The system sometimes processes a temporary disqualification while verifying information, then immediately reverses it when verification is complete. If you received both notices on the same day, the later timestamp typically represents your actual status. You should also check if there's a monetary determination letter in your dashboard that shows your weekly benefit amount. That's a good sign your claim is actually approved despite the conflicting emails.

•Thank you so much for the detailed explanation! That makes sense. I'll keep trying to get into my account to check those sections you mentioned.

DONT TRUST EITHER EMAIL!!! The PA UC system is completely broken and they send out contradictory info ALL THE TIME!! I got 4 different emails in one week last month - denied, approved, pending review, then approved again. The only thing that matters is what the actual agent tells you when you finally get through on the phone. Keep calling!!!

•this is overly dramatic lol... second email is usually correct but yeah calling to confirm is smart

I went through the exact same nightmare back in February. Spent days trying to get through on the phone with no luck - just endless busy signals and disconnects. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an agent after wasting almost two weeks trying on my own. The agent confirmed my second email (the approval) was correct and explained it was a system issue they're working on fixing. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. Totally worth it to get an actual answer instead of stressing about contradictory emails.

•I've never heard of this service before. Did it take long to get through? I'm going crazy with the busy signals.

•Got through in about 40 minutes instead of spending days redialing. The agent confirmed my approval was valid and fixed another issue I didn't even know I had with my claim.

This is a known issue with PA's UC system that occurs during certain verification processes. Here's what's happening: The system automatically sends a disqualification notice when it encounters a verification flag during processing. Then, once that verification clears (often automatically just minutes later), it sends the approval notice. The SECOND email is almost always the correct one in these situations. However, to be 100% certain: 1. Check your UC dashboard under "Claim Status" 2. Look for your monetary determination letter in your documents section 3. See if your payment has been issued under the "Payments" tab If you can't access your account online, keep calling the UC service center. You can also try using the PA UC LiveChat feature during business hours, which sometimes has shorter wait times than the phone lines.

•Thank you for such a detailed explanation! This makes so much sense now. I'll try the LiveChat option tomorrow morning since I still can't get through on the phone. Really appreciate the help!

Did u quit ur job or were u fired? That might explain why u got both emails...if ur employer contested ur claim maybe???

•I was laid off due to budget cuts, so it wasn't a firing or quitting situation. My employer confirmed the layoff on their end too, so I don't think that's the issue. But good thought!

Just wanted to follow up - were u able to figure this out? Which email was correct?

•Yes!! Finally got through this morning. The rep confirmed the SECOND email (approval) was correct! She said their system sometimes sends out the disqualification notice automatically during processing before the final determination is made. So relieved. My weekly claim was processed and payment should arrive in 2-3 business days. Thanks everyone for the help!

Glad you got it sorted out! This is exactly why I always tell people to wait for that second email or call to confirm. The PA UC system has been having these glitches for months now. For anyone else dealing with this - if you get conflicting emails on the same day, 99% of the time the later one is accurate. The system sends out automated disqualification notices during processing that get overridden once verification completes. Still stressful as hell when you're waiting for benefits though!

•This is such valuable information! I wish PA UC would fix this system issue since it causes so much unnecessary panic. I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - got a disqualification email yesterday and I'm hoping for that second approval email. How long did it typically take between the two emails when you've seen this happen?
