PA UC claim showing 'active but unresolved' for husband but mine was approved - same employment situation!
So confused right now! My husband and I were both laid off from the same temp agency on the same day (March 15th). We filed our UC claims within hours of each other, answered all questions identically since our situation was exactly the same. I got approved last week and my payments are already coming through, but his claim still says "active" and "unresolved" with payments stuck in "in process" status for 3+ weeks now. We've both submitted all the required documents, completed the identity verification, and answered the investigative questionnaires. We called the PA UC service center together and the rep said everything was filled out correctly on his application. She couldn't explain why mine went through but his is stuck. Has anyone experienced this weird situation where identical claims are processed differently? Could this be a system glitch? I'm starting to wonder if they made a mistake processing his claim since literally everything about our employment and separation was identical. This is so frustrating because we need both incomes to cover our bills.

Yes, this happens more than you'd think! The PA UC system sometimes processes identical claims differently because different examiners handle them. Your husband's claim might have been assigned to an examiner with a larger backlog, or there could be a small detail that triggered additional review. Have either of you worked anywhere else in the last 18 months besides the temp agency? Sometimes base year calculations can differ even if your most recent employment was the same.

•Thanks for responding! No, we both only worked at that temp agency during the base year. We started on the same day about 10 months ago and neither of us had other jobs. That's why it's so weird that they're being processed differently!

•7 weeks?! Oh no, I hope my husband's doesn't take that long. Did your sister do anything special to finally get it approved?

This is a very common issue with PA UC claims processing. What's happening is that even though the circumstances appear identical, the claims are likely being processed by different examiners who may have different workloads or approaches to verification. A few things that could be affecting this: 1. Employer response timing - The temp agency might have responded to your claim verification request faster than your husband's 2. System flagging - Sometimes the system randomly flags claims for additional verification 3. Name verification issues - If your husband has a common name, it might require additional identity verification checks 4. Different processing queues - Claims enter different processing queues based on when they're submitted, even if it's the same day Your husband should continue filing his weekly certifications while waiting. Since you mentioned his claim is "active" but "unresolved," that usually means there's just a backlog issue rather than a problem with his eligibility.

•This is super helpful, thank you! He has been filing his weekly claims. The claim examiner did mention something about his name potentially matching another person in the system, so maybe that's the holdup? I just wish they'd tell us exactly what's causing the delay.

I find it INSANE how PA UC can't process two identical claims the same way!!!! My brother and I went through this last year - SAME CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, SAME LAYOFF DATE, but his took 9 WEEKS while mine took 2 weeks!!! The system is BROKEN and nobody at UC seems to care that people have bills to pay while they take their sweet time processing claims. It's absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!

•9 weeks is crazy long! Did your brother ever find out what caused the delay? This is honestly so stressful because we're counting on both incomes.

I struggled with this exact issue when my claim was stuck in "active but unresolved" status for weeks while trying to reach someone at PA UC. After getting disconnected dozens of times, I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an actual person at the UC service center in about 45 minutes. The agent was able to see exactly what was holding up my claim and fixed it right away. They have a video demo that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 Might be worth trying since your husband's situation seems straightforward and probably just needs someone to look at it manually.

•I've never heard of this service before. Have other people here used it successfully? My husband has been calling for days and either gets a busy signal or gets disconnected after waiting on hold.

•I used Claimyr last month and it worked. Got through to someone who fixed my claim that had been stuck for weeks. Better than calling yourself 100 times.

From what I understand, even identical claims can end up on different processing paths depending on several factors. It's not uncommon for one person to get approved quickly while another waits weeks or months. My advice: 1) Make sure your husband continues filing his weekly certifications exactly as required 2) Check his dashboard for any action items or messages (sometimes they're easy to miss) 3) If it's been more than 3 weeks, he should request an escalation when he calls 4) Double check that his identity verification (ID.me) was fully completed - sometimes it looks complete but isn't Most importantly, don't panic. As long as his claim says "active" and not "inactive" or "denied," he will likely get all backdated payments once it's resolved.

•Thank you! His ID.me verification shows completed, and we've checked several times for messages or action items (there aren't any). I'm glad to hear the "active" status is a good sign though. I'll have him ask for an escalation next time he calls.

wait did u guys file on the same computer? sometimes that gets flagged as fraud even tho its not

•We did! I didn't even think about that. We used my laptop to file both claims, just logged out between applications. Could that really cause a problem?

•Yes, that could absolutely trigger a fraud investigation flag! The system might think it's the same person trying to file two claims. That would explain why everything else seems correct but one claim is held up. Your husband should specifically mention this when he speaks to a representative.

Update us when your husband's claim gets resolved. I'm curious to know what was causing the delay. This kind of information helps others in similar situations. And don't worry too much - as long as his claim is "active" he should eventually receive all backdated payments from the time he first filed.

•I definitely will! He has an appointment to call tomorrow morning. Hopefully they can sort it out quickly.

UPDATE: We got it resolved! It turns out the issue was exactly what someone here suggested - filing from the same computer/IP address flagged his claim for fraud review. He finally got through to someone at PA UC this morning who explained that his claim was in the identity verification queue even though he'd already completed ID.me. The rep manually verified his identity and released all his payments! They should be in his account within 2-3 business days. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

Great news! Just curious, how did he finally get through to someone? I've been trying for days with no luck.

•He used that Claimyr service someone mentioned above. It cost a little money but it worked - got him through in about an hour instead of days of trying. Definitely worth it in our situation since he was owed several weeks of backpay.

This is such valuable information for everyone dealing with similar issues! It's crazy that filing from the same computer can trigger a fraud flag, but at least now we know. I'm dealing with a delayed claim myself and wondering if I should try that Claimyr service too. How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking? And congrats on getting it resolved - must be such a relief to finally have those payments coming through!

•I think it was around $20-30 but honestly can't remember the exact amount since my husband handled it. Given that he was owed like 4 weeks of backpay it was totally worth it! The relief is incredible - we were really starting to stress about bills. Definitely try it if you've been stuck calling for days with no success. Good luck with your claim!

Wow, what a journey! Thanks for sharing the update - this is exactly the kind of information that helps others in the community. The same computer/IP address issue is something I never would have thought of, but it makes total sense from a fraud prevention standpoint. It's frustrating that the system doesn't distinguish between legitimate household members filing separately vs potential fraud, but at least now we know to be aware of this. Really glad you both got it sorted out and that your husband will be getting his backpay soon. Must be such a huge relief after weeks of uncertainty! This thread is going to be super helpful for anyone else who runs into similar issues with identical claims being processed differently.

•This whole thread has been so educational! I had no idea that filing from the same computer could cause issues - that's definitely something couples and families should know about when applying for UC. It's frustrating that the system doesn't have better ways to handle legitimate household applications, but at least there's a solution once you know what the problem is. Thanks for taking the time to update everyone - stories like this really help the community learn from each other's experiences!

This is exactly the kind of helpful information this community needs! As someone who works in IT, the same IP address triggering fraud detection makes perfect sense from a technical standpoint, but it's really unfortunate that the PA UC system doesn't have better protocols for handling legitimate household applications. For anyone else reading this - if you're in a household where multiple people need to file UC claims, consider using different devices or even different internet connections (like mobile data vs home wifi) to avoid this issue entirely. It's ridiculous that people have to think about this, but better to prevent the problem than deal with weeks of delays. So glad you both got it resolved and thanks for updating the thread with the solution!

•That's a really smart tip about using different devices or internet connections! I wish the PA UC website had some kind of warning about this when multiple people from the same household are applying. It seems like such an obvious thing they should account for, especially since job losses often affect whole families or couples working at the same place. Your IT perspective really helps explain why this happens - thanks for the practical advice on avoiding the issue in the first place!

This entire thread is such a perfect example of why community forums like this are so valuable! The fact that you were able to crowdsource the solution (same IP address causing fraud flags) and then come back with the resolution is exactly how these communities should work. I'm bookmarking this thread because I know it's going to help so many people in similar situations. The tip about using different devices/connections for household applications should honestly be pinned somewhere - that's the kind of practical advice that can save people weeks of stress and financial hardship. Congratulations on getting both claims resolved! It must feel amazing to finally have that uncertainty behind you and know the backpay is coming. Thanks for being such an active participant in helping others troubleshoot their issues too.

•Absolutely agree! This thread is going to be a lifesaver for so many people. I just joined this community recently and I'm amazed at how helpful everyone is. The fact that multiple people were able to identify the potential cause (same IP address) and then we got confirmation that was actually the issue is incredible. I'm definitely going to remember the advice about using different devices if my partner and I ever need to file claims. Stories like this really show the power of people helping people when dealing with these frustrating government systems!

This is such a valuable thread! As someone who just joined this community, I'm blown away by how helpful everyone has been in troubleshooting this issue. The fact that filing from the same computer/IP address can trigger fraud detection is something I never would have thought of, but it makes perfect sense. I'm actually dealing with a similar situation right now - my claim has been stuck in "active but unresolved" status for about 2 weeks. Reading through all the suggestions here, I'm wondering if I should try that Claimyr service since calling PA UC directly has been impossible. The busy signals and disconnections are so frustrating when you're already stressed about finances. Thanks for updating us with the resolution! It's going to help so many people who find this thread in the future. And the tip about using different devices for household applications is gold - definitely something PA UC should warn people about on their website.
