PA UC system says I missed filing for week ending 5/12/25 but I definitely filed - how to backdate?

Hi everyone, I'm panicking a bit here. When I logged into my PA UC portal yesterday, I noticed that according to the system I didn't file for my weekly claim ending 5/12/25. But I ABSOLUTELY DID file that week! I remember sitting at my kitchen table doing it while waiting for my coffee to brew (Monday morning ritual). The system is showing all my other weeks as filed properly, just not that one. I emailed an intake interviewer about this issue last week, and she replied saying she could help me file for that missing week. She mentioned she would call to walk me through the process, but it's been 6 days and no call. I've sent two follow-up emails with no response. Can I backdate this weekly claim myself somehow? Or am I stuck waiting for this interviewer to finally call me? I'm already behind on rent and missing that week's payment ($482) is making everything worse. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Unfortunately you can't backdate weekly claims yourself through the online portal. The system locks out the ability to file after the deadline (Sunday at 11:59pm for the previous week). Your only options are: 1. Keep trying to reach that intake interviewer 2. Call the UC service center directly at 1-888-313-7284 3. Visit a PA CareerLink office in person for help When this happened to me last year, I eventually got through on the phone after about 30+ attempts. The agent was able to help me file the missed week right there on the call. They'll ask why you missed filing (even though you didn't), just explain calmly that you believe you did file but the system didn't record it properly.

Thank you for this info! So frustrating that there's no way to do it myself. I've been calling that 888 number for three days and just get busy signals or the automated "we're experiencing high call volume" message before it hangs up. Did you just keep redialing over and over?

this happens alot with PA UC. system is garbage. i had same issue in march and had to wait 5 WEEKS to get someone on phone to fix it. good luck getting thru on that phone number lol

Same! Their system is THE WORST. Got locked out of my account back in January and couldn't file for three weeks. When I finally got through, the rep acted like I was the problem for not "trying harder" to contact them. Um, excuse me??? I called 20+ times a day!

I know it's incredibly frustrating, but there's a specific process to handle this situation. First, you should document everything - take screenshots of your claim history showing the other weeks filed correctly, save that email from the interviewer, etc. For missing weeks, PA UC representatives need to manually process what's called a "backdated weekly certification." Only UC staff can do this - there's no self-service option for claimants. If your interviewer isn't responding, you have two options: 1. Call the UC Service Center at 1-888-313-7284 between 8am-4pm Monday-Friday (best to call right at 8am) 2. Email UCHelp@pa.gov with "Request for Backdated Weekly Certification" in the subject line Explain clearly that you did file but the system didn't record it. Include your full name, last 4 of SSN, the specific week ending date (5/12/25), and ask for them to help you process the backdated certification. The key is persistence - keep detailed records of all contact attempts in case there's any issue with your claim later.

Thank you for such detailed guidance! I didn't know about emailing UCHelp directly. I'll try that approach and start documenting everything better. I wonder if it's worth also mentioning that I've never missed a weekly filing before this, to help show this is just a system error and not me being careless.

I've never heard of that before! Does it actually work? I'm willing to try anything at this point since I really need that payment processed.

i used it twice. works but they should make the stupid UC system better instead of making us use workarounds

Is it possible you filed for the wrong week somehow? Sometimes I get confused with the "week ending" dates vs when I'm actually filing. Like maybe you thought you filed for 5/12 but accidentally filed for the previous or next week? Worth checking your confirmation emails if you still have them.

I checked all my emails and don't see any confirmation for that week, which is weird because I usually get them. But I do have confirmations for all the weeks before and after. This is making me second-guess myself, but I really do remember filing that Monday morning!

OMG the EXACT same thing happened to me in February!!!! The system showed I missed a week but I KNOW I filed it. I had to call like 50 times before I got through. The UC lady was actually really nice and filed the week for me right on the phone. She said there was a "system glitch" that affected some claims that week. Just keep calling!!!!! And maybe try different times of day. I finally got through on a Wednesday around 2:30pm when I had been trying mostly mornings before that. Don't give up!!!!!

This is good advice about trying different times. I've found that mid-week (Tuesday-Thursday) and mid-afternoon tends to have slightly shorter wait times. Friday is usually the worst day to call.

Update: I tried the Claimyr service that someone mentioned and actually got through to a UC rep! They were able to check my account and confirmed there was NO record of me filing for that week. I swear I did file, but I guess there's no way to prove it now. The good news is the rep processed my backdated claim right on the call. She said I should see the payment in 2-3 business days. For anyone else with this issue, the rep told me that technically we have two weeks after the filing deadline to request a backdated claim with "good cause" (system errors count as good cause). After that it gets much harder to get it approved.

Nice! Glad it worked out for you. The UC system is such a pain to deal with.

Great news! Make sure to file your next weekly certification on time to avoid any further issues. If you're still having problems with your interviewer not responding, you might want to mention that during your next filing.

So glad you got it resolved! That two-week deadline for backdated claims is really important info that I didn't know about. I've been dealing with PA UC for months and they never mentioned that timeframe. For anyone else reading this - it sounds like documenting everything and being persistent with calling (or using services like Claimyr) is key. The system definitely has glitches but at least there are ways to get help if you stay on top of it. Thanks for updating us on how it worked out!

This is such helpful information, especially about the two-week deadline! I'm new to dealing with unemployment claims and honestly had no idea there were strict timeframes like this. It's reassuring to know there are solutions even when the system glitches. I'm bookmarking this thread in case I run into similar issues. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - this community is really valuable for navigating these frustrating situations!

This whole thread is such a lifesaver! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - the PA UC system shows I missed filing for week ending 5/26/25 but I'm 100% certain I filed it. Reading through everyone's experiences gives me hope that it can be resolved. I'm definitely going to try calling at different times like some of you suggested, and if that doesn't work I'll look into the Claimyr service. The two-week deadline information is crucial - I had no idea about that timeframe. It's so frustrating that this system has these kinds of glitches regularly, but at least we have this community to share solutions and support each other through these stressful situations. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and advice!

I'm so sorry you're going through this too! It's really frustrating how common these system glitches seem to be. One thing I learned from reading this thread is to keep detailed records of everything - screenshots, emails, call attempts, etc. Even if you can't prove you filed originally, having documentation of your efforts to resolve it helps show good faith when you talk to UC reps. Good luck getting through - hopefully the different timing strategy works for you! And thanks to everyone who shared their solutions here, this community really is a lifeline when dealing with these UC issues.
