PA UC weekly claim says 'no claim until 7/14/24' - Did I lose last week's benefits?
I'm freaking out right now. I went to file my weekly claim today like usual but the system rejected it. I think it's because I forgot to file my claim last week (had a family emergency and completely spaced on it). When I tried to redo it today, the PA UC portal said "no claim till 7/14/24" which makes no sense to me! Does this mean I completely lost last week's money? Do I need to call someone at the unemployment office to get my missed payment? Has anyone dealt with this before? I really can't afford to miss even one week's worth of benefits right now...

Yes, this is what happens when you miss filing for a week. PA UC is strict about weekly filing deadlines. If you miss a week, the system won't let you backdate it online. You'll need to call the UC service center to request a backdated claim for the week you missed. They might approve it if you had a good reason (like your family emergency).

•Thanks for explaining! Do you know how long it usually takes to get through to someone? I've tried calling twice today and kept getting busy signals.

•Did you manage to get it fixed? What did you end up doing?

The "no claim till 7/14/24" message just means you can't file another regular weekly claim until next Sunday (7/14). It doesn't necessarily mean you permanently lost last week's benefits. You just need to speak with someone at UC to explain your situation and request a backdated claim for the missed week. They can manually process it for you. Do you remember exactly what date you missed filing?

•It would have been last Sunday (6/30). I normally file right when I wake up on Sundays but like I said, had family stuff come up and completely forgot until yesterday, but by then it was too late.

U CANNOT file a missed claim online after the deadline - THATS WHY ur getting that message!!! PA UC has the WORST system ever. they make it nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get missed payments!!! good luck getting thru on the phone, I spent 3 DAYS trying

•While it's true the system isn't perfect, PA UC actually does allow backdated claims in certain circumstances. You just have to explain your reason for missing the deadline, and if it's a good reason (like a documented emergency), they will often approve it. The key is getting through to someone who can help.

After struggling with this same issue myself, I finally found a service called Claimyr that got me through to a PA UC agent in about 20 minutes when I'd spent days getting busy signals. You can check it out at claimyr.com - they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 For backdated claims, you definitely need to speak with an actual agent who can override the system. They'll ask about your reason for missing the filing deadline (your family emergency sounds like a valid reason), and they can process the missed week manually if approved.

•Thank you so much for this tip! I'll check out the service because I'm desperate to get this fixed before bills are due next week. Did they ask for any specific documentation of your reason for missing the deadline?

To add some important technical details here: What you're experiencing is related to the "waiting week" rule getting triggered. When you miss filing for one week, the system treats it as a break in your claim sequence. Here's what you need to know: 1. You can request a backdated claim by calling the UC service center 2. You'll need to provide a valid reason for missing the filing deadline 3. If approved, they will process the payment for your missed week 4. The message about 7/14 means your next regular claim period starts then 5. This won't affect your total benefit amount, just the timing The fastest way to resolve this is definitely speaking with an agent directly. Just be prepared to explain your family emergency in specific terms.

•wait so does this mean we lose a week of benefits total or just get them later?? im confused

@confused_user It means you don't necessarily lose the benefits permanently. If the UC representative approves your backdated claim request, you'll still get paid for that missed week. You just can't file for it online yourself after the deadline has passed. It requires manual intervention from a UC agent. @OP - When you do get through to someone, be sure to have your claim information ready and a clear explanation of your family emergency. Being prepared makes the process go much smoother.

•This is all really helpful information. I'm going to try getting through to someone first thing tomorrow morning. I've written down all the details of why I missed filing, so hopefully they'll understand. I'll update here once I get it resolved in case anyone else runs into this same issue.

Happened to me once too. Had to call the UC office like 50 times before getting through but they did fix it for me eventually. They ask a bunch of questions about why you missed filing, just be honest. My advice is to call right when they open in the morning, that's when I finally got through.

•Thanks for the tip about calling right when they open! What time is that - 8am? And did they process your payment right away or did it take additional time once they approved the backdated claim?

Yep, 8am Eastern. And it took about 3 business days for the payment to actually hit my account after they approved it. Just make sure you're super clear about which specific week you missed.

I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned above when I had a similar issue last month. It worked surprisingly well - had me connected in about 15 minutes when I'd been trying for days on my own. Cost a bit but was worth it to me to get my backdated claim processed. The UC rep was able to fix everything in one call. Just make sure when you do talk to someone that you clearly explain it was a one-time emergency situation. They're generally pretty reasonable about approving backdated claims when you have a legitimate reason.
