PA UC payment shows on portal but Treasury Dept has no record - Money Network card confusion?
I'm totally confused and frustrated with my PA unemployment payment situation! My UC portal shows a payment date of today (3/17/2025) for $687 and status says 'processed,' but something weird is happening. I called the Treasury Department to check on it because it didn't hit my bank account, and they told me they have NO RECORD of any payment being sent to me! The rep at Treasury also said I won't be getting direct deposit because my bank (Chime) is on some kind of 'fraud list' they have. Nobody told me this before! So now I have no idea how I'm supposed to receive this money. I never got a ReliaCard or Money Network card in the mail. The UC portal still shows direct deposit as my payment method. I've been trying to call the UC service center for 2 days with no luck getting through. Has anyone else experienced this disconnect between what UC says and what Treasury says? I'm worried my payment is just floating in limbo somewhere. Really need this money for rent!

This happened to me in January! The Treasury Department and UC don't always have synchronized systems. What's happening is that UC has processed your payment but Treasury hasn't yet sent it out. Since your bank was flagged, they'll automatically send you a Money Network card instead, but that takes 7-10 business days to arrive. The first card comes with no notification - it just shows up in a plain white envelope that looks like junk mail, so watch your mailbox carefully.

•Thank you for explaining! Do you know if there's any way to track when the card will arrive? And once I get it, can I switch to a different bank for direct deposit that isn't on their fraud list?

•3 WEEKS?? I can't wait that long! Did your cousin ever call UC directly to ask about it?

I work for a credit union and we see this frequently with unemployment claims. Here's what's happening: PA Treasury has a fraud prevention system that flags certain online/fintech banks that have had high rates of unemployment fraud. When this happens, the system automatically reroutes your payment to a Money Network debit card instead, but there's often a 1-2 day delay while this rerouting occurs, plus 7-10 days for card delivery. What you need to do: 1. Wait 2-3 business days for the payment to fully process through Treasury 2. Continue checking your portal for status updates 3. Look for an unmarked envelope from Money Network (seriously, it looks like junk mail) 4. Once you receive the card, you can update your payment preference to a different bank account (preferably a traditional bank or credit union) The disconnect between UC and Treasury is because they operate on different systems with different update schedules.

•This is really helpful, thank you! Is there any way to contact Money Network directly to check if a card has been issued for me? I'm worried because my apartment complex doesn't have secure mailboxes and things sometimes get stolen.

•How long did it take for your card to arrive after the payment date shown in the portal?

I had the EXACT same issue back in February! The Treasury has this list of online banks they don't work with anymore because of some fraud stuff that happened during COVID. My payments were showing in the UC system for TWO WEEKS before I finally got the Money Network card. And get this - when I called UC, they kept saying the money was sent to my bank! It was a total mess. Try calling the Money Network customer service at 888-233-5916 to check if a card has been issued for you. They can tell you when it was mailed at least.

•Thank you for that number! I'll call them tomorrow. It's ridiculous they don't tell you about these bank restrictions BEFORE you set up direct deposit. Would have saved everyone so much trouble.

I've been dealing with PA UC for the past 5 months and let me tell you - this is CLASSIC unemployment office incompetence! They never communicate between departments. Your money is probably sitting in some digital limbo while they figure out how to route it. And good luck trying to call them directly - I've spent HOURS listening to that stupid hold music just to get disconnected. The whole system is designed to make it as frustrating as possible to get your benefits. I've had payments randomly switch between direct deposit and card with zero notification. It's like they WANT people to give up!

•It definitely feels intentional sometimes! I've already spent hours on this when I should be job searching. Did you ever find a reliable way to get through to an actual person?

I had this exact problem in February when my bank (Current) got flagged. After struggling for days trying to reach someone at UC, I tried using Claimyr.com to get through to a live agent. It actually worked - got me past the busy signals and connected to a rep in about 15 minutes. The agent was able to confirm my payment was being sent via Money Network card and even expedited it for me. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 that shows how it works. Saved me days of frustration.

UPDATE: I finally got through to UC this morning after calling 22 times! The agent confirmed my payment was switched to a Money Network card that was mailed yesterday. She said it takes 7-10 business days but there's no tracking available. She also confirmed my bank is on their restricted list because of 'fraud prevention measures' implemented in 2024. She added that once I get the card, I can call UC again to update my bank information to a different account, but they recommend traditional banks or credit unions, not online-only banks. Thanks everyone for your help! I'll update when the card arrives.

•Glad you got through! Make sure to activate the card immediately when it arrives. Also check if there are any ATM fees - I think you get 1-2 free withdrawals per month but after that they charge you.
