PA UC paper check delay this week? Anyone else waiting longer than usual?

I'm getting worried because my husband's PA unemployment paper check usually arrives like clockwork on Thursday, but nothing came yesterday. It's now Friday morning and still nothing in the mail. His claim status shows 'payment issued' on the website since Tuesday. Has anyone else who gets paper checks noticed delays this week? Should we be concerned or is the postal service just running behind? This is the first time in his 6 weeks of claiming that it's been late.

You're not alone! Mine's delayed too. I normally get my paper check on Thursdays as well, but nothing yet. The UC website shows payment was issued Tuesday. I called the UC service center this morning after trying for 3 hours and finally got through using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They said there's a processing delay at the treasury this week affecting paper checks. The agent told me checks should arrive by Monday or Tuesday. Check out their demo if you're struggling to get through: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 - saved me so much time!

Thank you SO MUCH for this info! We were seriously starting to panic. I'll let my husband know it's a treasury delay. Was considering calling all weekend but maybe we'll just wait til Monday now. Was the Claimyr thing easy to use? Never heard of it before.

Direct deposit is definitely more reliable, but not everyone qualifies. If you have an outstanding overpayment or certain types of holds on your account, PA UC sometimes restricts you to paper checks only. Always good to have options though!

Mine is late too! Usually comes Thursday but nothing today either. Glad to know its not just me.

This is a known issue right now. There was a delay in the Treasury Department's processing of unemployment checks this week affecting many paper check recipients. According to the PA UC website update posted yesterday (which is buried in their announcements section), they expect all delayed checks to be delivered by Tuesday at the latest. If you don't receive it by Wednesday, then you should request a replacement check, but you have to wait the full 7 business days from issuance date before they'll process that request. For future reference, direct deposit is much more reliable and gets paid 2-3 days faster than paper checks. You can switch by logging into your dashboard and selecting "Payment Options" from the menu.

Thank you for the detailed info! We've tried switching to direct deposit multiple times but keep getting an error about "outstanding issues requiring paper checks" - something about an old overpayment from 2023 that's still being paid off. Hoping once that's cleared we can switch.

Where exactly is this announcement? I've been looking all over the website and can't find ANYTHING about check delays! The UC system is deliberately hiding information from us!

ANOTHER CHECK DELAY!!! This is the THIRD TIME this year the Treasury has "mysteriously" delayed our money! It's totally DELIBERATE to force people onto direct deposit so they can track all your banking information. My neighbor works for the post office and said they received ZERO unemployment checks to deliver yesterday - they're holding them back on purpose!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!

I don't think it's a conspiracy... my wife's check came yesterday on time but mine didn't. If they were deliberately holding all checks wouldn't they all be delayed? Just saying.

Here's the official situation: The Pennsylvania Treasury Department experienced a processing delay that has affected unemployment compensation paper checks issued between Monday and Wednesday this week. This is confirmed on their website under System Alerts (though it's not prominently displayed). If your payment status shows "payment issued," your check has been processed and is in the mail system. Most affected claimants should receive their checks by Monday or Tuesday. In the meantime: 1. Continue checking your mail daily 2. Don't request a replacement check until at least 7 business days have passed 3. Keep filing your weekly claims as scheduled despite this delay 4. Consider switching to direct deposit for faster, more reliable payments If Tuesday comes and you still don't have your check, then you should contact the UC service center for assistance.

Thank you, this is really helpful! We'll keep checking the mail and wait until at least Tuesday before panicking. Appreciate the clear explanation!
