PA UC examiner promised decision by Tuesday - can I trust this timeline?
Got a surprise call from a PA UC examiner this morning after waiting for WEEKS with no updates. They said my claim decision would 'definitely' be finalized by Tuesday. Has anyone actually had examiners keep their promises about specific dates? I'm nervous about getting my hopes up because my rent is due next Friday and I've already had to borrow money from family. Is 'definitely by Tuesday' actually reliable or just another empty promise?

In my experience, when an examiner gives you a specific date like Tuesday, they usually do follow through. It's different from the generic "2-3 weeks" timeline they give everyone else. When they call you personally and commit to a specific day, they've likely already reviewed your case and just need to process the final approval or documentation. I'd say it's about 90% reliable when they give you an exact date like that.

•That's reassuring! Did they release payment immediately after the decision or was there another waiting period?

•That's frustrating but was probably during the big backlog. Things are running more smoothly now in 2025, and when examiners call you directly (rather than you calling them), they tend to follow through on their timelines.

Did the examiner say anything about what the decision might be?? Sometimes they hint at approval or denial in how they talk to you. What kind of questions did they ask? When I got a call before my decision the examiner asked me to verify some employment dates and I could tell he was setting up for an approval.

•They asked me to confirm my last day worked and the reason for separation. I said I was laid off due to department reorganization, and they just said "I have all the information I need now" - didn't give any hints about which way they were leaning :

I had something similar happen in January. Examiner called on a Thursday, promised decision by the following Monday, but I didn't see any updates until Wednesday. So they missed their own deadline by 2 days. But the good news was I got approved! So maybe give them until Thursday before panicking.

If you want to make absolutely sure you get an answer by Tuesday and not have to wait longer, I'd recommend using Claimyr to connect with an agent on Tuesday morning. I was in a similar situation - examiner promised a decision but nothing showed up online. Used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to a PA UC rep in about 10 minutes instead of spending hours redialing. The rep was able to see my decision was made but hadn't been properly uploaded to the system yet. They fixed it while I was on the phone. You can see how it works in their video: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2

•Thanks for the recommendation. If I don't see anything by Tuesday afternoon I'll definitely try that. Getting pretty desperate at this point!

When an examiner gives you a specific date like Tuesday, it typically means they're finalizing your claim. They need to review all documentation, enter their determination, and then the system processes it. Sometimes this happens faster than the date they quote (best case), exactly on that date (common), or 1-2 days later (also common). The fact that they called you is a positive sign - they don't usually call unless they have most of what they need to make a determination.

•unless theyre calling to tell u ur DENIED lol happened to my brother!!!

•That can happen too, but they typically don't schedule a decision date for denials - those are usually processed immediately. The scheduling of a future decision date often indicates additional processing steps which are more common with approvals.

So my situation was kinda different but similar?? I had an examiner call me last month and say decision by Friday but then nothing happened so I called on Monday and they said my examiner was out sick and someone else would look at it but then NOBODY DID and I had to file an appeal for no decision which is apparently a thing you can do!! Just throwing this out there in case Tuesday comes and goes with nothing happening...

UPDATE: You guys were right! Decision came through this morning (Tuesday) and I was APPROVED! Payments are now listed as "in progress" - feeling so relieved right now. Thanks for helping me not freak out too much while waiting.

•That's great news! Payments usually hit your Money Network card within 2-3 business days after they show "in progress." Make sure you continue filing your weekly claims without interruption.

Congratulations Julian! This is such great news and hopefully gives others hope who are in similar situations. It's really encouraging to see that when PA UC examiners give specific dates like they did with you, they actually follow through. Your story is going to help a lot of people who are stressed about waiting for decisions. Glad you can finally breathe easy and get caught up on your bills!
