PA UC dashboard still shows pandemic benefits - can I access these funds in 2025?
I logged into my PA unemployment account this morning for the first time since 2021 (had to file a new claim after my seasonal job ended), and I noticed something weird. My dashboard still shows pandemic unemployment benefits that I never claimed! There's about $4,700 showing as 'available' under what looks like my old PUA claim. Has anyone else seen this? Can I actually access these funds now even though the pandemic programs ended years ago? I'm confused because everything I've read says those programs are completely finished. Is this just a glitch in the system or can I somehow claim this money?

Unfortunately, this is just a system glitch that many people are experiencing in 2025. The pandemic unemployment programs (PUA, PEUC, etc.) officially ended in September 2021, and those funds are no longer available to claim regardless of what your dashboard shows. The PA UC system never fully removed those programs from everyone's dashboards. If you try to claim those funds, the system will either give you an error or, worse, could flag your account for potential fraud investigation.

•Oh no, I definitely don't want a fraud investigation! Thanks for the quick response. Do you think I should contact someone to have them fix it on my dashboard? Or just ignore it?

•Wow, so they've never bothered to fix this for YEARS? That's kinda ridiculous but I guess I shouldn't be surprised 🙄

I HAD THE SAME THING!! Called about it and wasted 3 HOURS of my life trying to get through to someone. When I finally did, they basically laughed and said it's a known system issue they have no plans to fix. The lady told me those funds don't actually exist and trying to claim them could mess up your current claim if you have one. THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS A JOKE!!!!!

•The agent was correct - attempting to claim those phantom funds can potentially trigger a fraud alert on your account. The best advice is to ignore those pandemic program balances and only interact with current, active claims.

•It's definitely frustrating! I had a similar experience trying to reach PA UC about this exact issue. After endless busy signals and disconnections, I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to connect with an agent. They confirmed it's just a display glitch in their system and those funds aren't actually available. If you need to speak with UC about this or anything else, check out their video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 - saved me hours of redial frustration.

I actually had something similar on my account but it disappeared when I had to verify my identity through ID.me last week for my new claim. Maybe the system just needs an update trigger to clear old data?

•That's an interesting observation. It does seem that certain account actions can trigger cleanup of old data. However, for most people, the phantom pandemic funds remain visible indefinitely unless the technical team manually removes them.

I work with unemployment cases professionally, and I can confirm this is just a display issue. The PUA and PEUC programs were federally funded emergency programs that ended in 2021. Those funds no longer exist at all - the federal money was returned long ago. When you see these balances, it's similar to seeing a closed bank account still showing in your banking app. The account exists in the system's history but has no actual funds available. I recommend focusing only on regular UC claims that are currently active.

•Thank you for the clear explanation! I'll ignore it and just focus on my current claim. Do you know if there's any way to hide it from my dashboard so I don't get confused in the future?

•TYPICAL PA SYSTEM NONSENSE! Some people get their dashboards cleaned up while the rest of us are stuck looking at money we can never have! I've been dealing with their broken systems for YEARS and it never improves!

To address your follow-up question - there's currently no way for claimants to hide or remove these displays from their dashboards. It would require a system-wide update from the PA UC technical team. If it's genuinely bothering you, you can submit a message through your dashboard about the display issue, but I wouldn't expect any immediate changes. Just continue with your current claim and try to ignore the pandemic program displays.
