PA UC approved today with March backdate - when will payment actually arrive?
FINALLY got my UC claim approved after fighting with the system for weeks! My effective date goes back to March 26, 2023 (so about 2 months of backpay coming). Has anyone received backdated payments recently? How long did it take for the money to actually hit your account after approval? I'm trying to figure out if I can pay my landlord this weekend or if I should ask for another extension. The approval notice doesn't give any timeline for when I'll see the $$. This wait is killing me!

•Thanks! Do you remember if all the backdated weeks came at once or were they staggered? I'm owed for 8 weeks so it's a decent amount.

It typically takes 2-3 business days after approval for payments to process, but backdated payments can take a bit longer. In my experience, the system processes each backdated week one by one, and they don't all hit at once. Make sure you've filed for all those backdated weeks individually (if you haven't already) - otherwise the money won't come automatically just because you're approved.

•Wait... I need to file separately for all those weeks? The lady on the phone never mentioned that! I thought once approved, they'd automatically pay everything from my effective date. How do I file for past weeks??

Yes, you definitely need to file for each backdated week separately. Go to your dashboard and look for the option to file for previous weeks. The system should show you which weeks are available to claim. You'll need to answer the eligibility questions for each week individually. This is actually good news - once you file those weeks, payment usually comes much faster than waiting for the system to process them automatically (which rarely happens).

•OMG thank you!! I just checked and you're right - there's a whole section for claiming past weeks that I completely missed. Filing them all now. Hopefully I'll see the money soon!

I had to wait 6 WEEKS after approval before seeing any $$ last year!!! The PA UC system is completely broken. They approved me then kept giving me stupid "open issues" on every weekly claim. NIGHTMARE.

•This happened to me too! Every time I filed a weekly claim it would trigger a new "investigation" and delay everything. I had to call them like 20 times before someone finally fixed it in the system. So frustrating.

If you need to reach the UC service center to check on your payment status but can't get through, try using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They helped me get through to an agent in about 30 minutes when I was dealing with backdated payments that weren't showing up. Their video shows how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. It was honestly the only way I could get answers about my missing payments without spending days hitting redial.

•is that service legit? im always suspicious of anything that claims to help with unemployment. how does it even work?

•It's legitimate - they basically call on your behalf and when they get through, they connect you with the agent. I was skeptical too, but I was desperate after trying to call for 3 days straight with no luck. The Money Network card support wasn't helping either since they could only see that payments hadn't been issued yet.

To directly answer your original question - for backdated claims that are recently approved: 1. After filing each backdated week, expect 3-5 business days for processing 2. If you have direct deposit, funds usually appear 1-2 days after processing 3. For Money Network cards, it can take an additional 1-2 days after processing 4. Backdated claims with many weeks sometimes process in batches of 2-3 weeks at a time So realistically, you're probably looking at 5-7 business days after filing all your backdated weeks before you see the first payments. I wouldn't make firm promises to your landlord until you see at least the first payment hit your account.

•Thank you so much for the detailed timeline! This is exactly what I needed to know. I'll tell my landlord it'll likely be next week before I can pay in full. I've filed all my backdated weeks now, so hopefully the system processes them quickly.

One more tip - if your backdated payments don't show up within 2 weeks of filing those weeks, there might be an issue that needs addressing. The payment status section should show each week as either "pending," "in progress," or "paid." If any week shows a different status or has been pending for more than 10 days, you should definitely call to check what's happening. Sometimes backdated weeks can trigger automatic reviews even after initial approval.

•That's good to know! I'll keep an eye on the status. Right now they all say "pending" after I filed them today. Fingers crossed they change to "paid" soon!

•Sounds like you're on the right track! Most people see their first payments within a week, so I bet you'll have good news soon.
