PA UC appeal shows 'reversed' on dashboard but reps say decision not written - what's going on?
I'm completely confused about my unemployment appeal status in PA. I had my referee hearing last week, and when I check my dashboard it clearly shows 'decision was written and reversed' with the appeal marked as 'closed'. Great news, right? But when I called the UC service center to find out what happens next, they told me no decision has been written yet! The rep couldn't tell me when to expect it either. How can my dashboard show one thing but the phone reps tell me something completely different? Has anyone else experienced this kind of contradiction? Does 'reversed' definitely mean I won my appeal? I'm stressing out because I really need these benefits to cover my rent next month.

This exact thing happened to me back in January! The PA UC system and what the reps see are sometimes different. In my case, the dashboard showed 'reversed' for about 10 days before the actual decision letter arrived in my mail. The 'reversed' status is actually good news - it means the referee overturned the initial denial. When the reps say no decision is written, they probably mean the formal paperwork hasn't been processed through their system yet. Just wait for the mail - that's the official decision. You should start seeing payments within 2-3 weeks after the reversal shows up.

•Thanks so much for the reassurance! Did you have to do anything specific to get your payments started again after the reversal? Or did they just automatically start coming once the official decision was processed?

•Not always true!! My dashboard said "reversed" but then I got a letter saying they upheld the denial for different reasons! The dashboard is often wrong and you shouldn't trust it until you get the ACTUAL letter in the mail!!! The PA UC system is a DISASTER and deliberately misleads people!

The discrepancy you're experiencing is actually quite common with the PA UC system. Let me clarify what's happening: When your dashboard shows "decision written and reversed" with a closed appeal, it means the referee has indeed made a decision and entered it into the system. However, there are several administrative steps that must happen after that: 1. The decision must be officially documented and approved 2. The decision letter must be generated and mailed 3. The claim must be recalculated and payment processing initiated What's likely happening is that the UC representatives are looking at a different screen that shows where your claim is in this administrative process. The initial decision has been entered (what you see on the dashboard), but the formal documentation isn't complete (what the reps see). Be patient, but if you don't receive a decision letter within 14 days of seeing the "reversed" status, you should reach out again. And yes, "reversed" generally means favorable to you - it indicates the initial determination was overturned.

•This is super helpful, thank you! It's been 8 days since I first saw the reversed status. I'll give it another week before panicking. Should I file my weekly claims in the meantime even though I'm not getting paid yet?

I had my appeal hearing for PA UC back in February, and it took over 3 weeks after the dashboard updated to "reversed" before I got the actual decision letter. And then another 2 weeks before any money showed up! The whole time the reps I talked to said different things - one said no decision was made, another said it was in processing, a third had no idea what I was talking about. It was infuriating! My cousin works for the state (not UC though) and she said their computer systems don't talk to each other properly, so the dashboard updates from one system while the reps look at a totally different one. Classic government efficiency at work! 🙄 But the good news is that "reversed" almost always means you won. Just keep filing your weekly claims and eventually the money should show up. Mine came all at once as a big lump sum.

•Thank you for sharing! I'll definitely keep filing my weekly claims. Did you have to call them again to get the payments started, or did they just come automatically after some time?

Try using Claimyr to get through to a UC agent who actually knows what they're talking about! I wasted 4 days trying to call on my own about my appeal status and kept getting disconnected. Used this service at claimyr.com and got through in 20 minutes to someone who could see my actual appeal status and tell me exactly when my payment would process. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. Was worth it to get a straight answer instead of the runaround.

•I've never heard of this service before. Did they actually connect you with a more knowledgeable rep than the ones I keep getting? I'm desperate for real answers at this point.

Has anyone else noticed that the PA UC payment system seems to process in batches? My appeal was reversed on a Thursday, but payments didn't start until the following Wednesday. I think they might process certain types of claims (like appeal reversals) only on specific days of the week.

Just to follow up on my earlier comment - ABSOLUTELY keep filing your weekly claims during this limbo period. That was advice my referee actually gave me at the end of my hearing. If you stop filing while waiting for the decision to be fully processed, you could lose those weeks of benefits permanently. The system will hold all eligible payments until the appeal is fully processed, then release them all at once.

•Thank you for the reminder! I did file this week but almost forgot because I was so focused on the appeal status. Will definitely keep doing it.

I just remembered something important - after my appeal was reversed, I got a call from a UC examiner who needed to verify some information before they could release my payments. They called from a blocked number and left a voicemail asking me to call back a direct extension. Make sure you're answering all calls, even unknown ones, and check your voicemail regularly! If you miss their call it could delay your payments even longer.

•Oh wow, I've been ignoring unknown calls! Thanks for the heads up - I'll start answering everything. Did they also send you any kind of message through the dashboard about needing additional information?

To address your follow-up questions: 1. Yes, you should absolutely continue filing your weekly claims during this period. This is crucial. 2. In most cases, payments will start automatically once the decision is fully processed, but in some situations (especially if there were multiple issues with your claim), you might need to speak with a representative. 3. The timing depends on several factors, but generally expect 2-4 weeks from seeing "reversed" on your dashboard until payments begin. 4. "Reversed" on an appeal almost always means the referee found in your favor and overturned the initial determination. 5. If you haven't received your decision letter within 14 days or payments within 30 days of seeing the "reversed" status, that's when you should be more persistent about following up.
