How long for PA UC examiner to clear mistaken 'open issue' after RESEA no-show?
I'm in a weird situation with my PA unemployment claim and need some advice. I got flagged with an 'open issue' because I didn't schedule my RESEA appointment. But here's the thing - I already have a new job starting next Monday and uploaded all the documentation showing I accepted employment! I finally got through to an agent today (after calling non-stop for 3 days), and she agreed it was a mistake to flag my account. She said I had properly uploaded all the required documentation about my new job. She even double-checked with her supervisor who confirmed this shouldn't have triggered an open issue. The agent said she's referring my case to an examiner to get it cleared up, but didn't give me any timeframe. Does anyone know how long it typically takes for an examiner to review and clear an issue like this? I'm worried about my final payments getting held up right when I need them most for this gap week before my new job starts.

•3 WEEKS?? Are you serious? I literally can't wait that long. Did calling them again help speed it up at all?

The timeline varies depending on how backed up they are. Officially, PA UC examiners should review cases within 7-10 business days, but in reality, it can take anywhere from 3 days to 4 weeks. Since you already spoke with an agent who confirmed it was a mistake and referred it to an examiner with supervisor verification, you might be on a priority track. Make sure you keep filing your weekly claims even with the open issue. Once it's resolved, they'll release all eligible payments at once.

•Thank you! That's actually really helpful. I'll definitely keep filing. Do you think I should try calling again in a week if I don't see any movement on my claim?

I went thru this in January! So frustrating when the system flags u for something that shouldn't even be an issue in the first place! The examiner cleared mine in 5 days but I think I just got lucky honestly

Since you already have confirmation from an agent that it was a mistake, I'd recommend calling back after 5 business days if you don't see movement. Ask to speak directly with an examiner or a supervisor who can check the status of your referral. Sometimes these referrals get lost in the system. Also, be sure to check your dashboard and correspondence section daily for any updates or requests for additional information. Sometimes they need more documentation but don't call to tell you, and your claim just sits there. The key here is being persistent without being pushy. The fact that you have supervisor verification is a huge advantage - make sure to mention that every time you call.

•THIS IS ALL BS ADVICE!!! PA UC DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOUR CASE OR WHAT SOME RANDOM AGENT TOLD YOU! I was told 5 different things by 5 different agents and NOTHING got fixed until I filed a complaint with my state rep's office. The system is BROKEN and designed to delay payments and make people give up. Don't believe anyone who tells you differently!!!!

After spending WEEKS trying to get through to PA UC on my own for a similar issue, I finally tried using Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got connected to an agent in under 15 minutes. Saved me hours of redial hell. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The agent I spoke with was able to escalate my case directly to an examiner while I was on the phone, and my issue was resolved 2 days later. Might be worth trying if you're still stuck next week.

My advice is to not rely solely on what that agent told you. Even though she consulted with her supervisor, the system can still be unpredictable. Continue to document everything - take screenshots of your dashboard showing the open issue, keep copies of the employment verification you uploaded, and note the date/time of your call with the agent (and her name if you have it). I'd suggest calling back in exactly 7 days. The key is to be extremely persistent but also super polite. PA UC examiners deal with angry people all day, so being the calm, organized person can sometimes get you faster service. And as others mentioned, absolutely keep filing your weekly claims even with the open issue!

•Good call on documenting everything - I did get the agent's name (Melissa) and I've been taking screenshots of everything. I'll definitely call back in 7 days if I don't see movement.

•Update: Issue was cleared yesterday! Took exactly 8 business days. The examiner left a note saying they confirmed my employment verification was valid and I didn't need the RESEA. All my held payments are being released now. Thanks everyone for the advice!!

Congrats on getting it resolved! 8 business days is actually pretty reasonable for PA UC. This gives me hope for my own pending examiner review. Did you have to call back at all during those 8 days or did you just wait it out? And did they send you any notification when it was cleared or did you just notice it on your dashboard?

•I didn't call back during those 8 days - just waited it out like some of the advice here suggested. I checked my dashboard every morning and evening though! No notification was sent - I just noticed the "open issue" status disappeared from my dashboard and then saw all the pending payments had been released. The examiner's note showed up in my correspondence section explaining why it was cleared. Honestly, waiting was torture but calling probably would have just wasted more time since it was already with an examiner.

This thread is so helpful! I'm dealing with a similar RESEA issue right now - got flagged even though I submitted job search documentation. It's reassuring to see that Dylan's case got resolved in 8 business days without needing to call back constantly. I think I'll follow the advice here about being patient but documenting everything, and checking my dashboard twice daily. The fact that no notification was sent when it cleared is good to know - I would have been waiting for an email that never comes!
