After winning PA UC appeal - got payment date but no transaction number, how long to wait?

So I FINALLY won my appeal hearing yesterday after 6 weeks of fighting! The referee ruled that my employer didn't have enough evidence I violated company policy. When I checked my PA UC account this morning, I already see a payment date (3/17/2025) for around $2,450 (6 weeks of back payments), but there's no transaction number showing yet. I'm trying not to get too excited because I've heard horror stories about people seeing payment dates but then waiting months for actual payment. Is seeing a payment date a good sign? How long until I should expect to see a transaction number appear? And when will the money actually hit my Money Network card? I have bills piling up and I'm getting desperate!

Congrats on winning your appeal! Payment date is definitely a good sign - it means your claim has been processed and approved for payment. In my experience, transaction numbers typically appear within 2-3 business days after a payment date is assigned. The money should hit your Money Network card 1-2 days after that. So you're probably looking at having funds by next week if everything goes smoothly.

Thank you! That's a huge relief. I've been so stressed I can barely sleep. Did you notice if your account updated on the weekend or only on business days?

That's awesome to hear! Did your transaction number show up before the payment hit your card or did it all happen at once?

I wouldn't get too excited yet. I had a payment date for THREE MONTHS before I actually got my money!!!! The system is BROKEN and they don't care about us!! Every time I called they just said "it's processing" but wouldn't tell me why it was taking so long. By the time I got my money I had already been evicted from my apartment!!

When did this happen? That sounds like it might have been during the pandemic backlog. Things are generally moving much faster now with fewer claims in the system.

It was just 5 months ago!! Nothing to do with the pandemic. The system is STILL broken!!!

Successful appeals typically process faster than initial claims with issues. The payment date is a very positive sign as it means your claim has passed the approval stage. Transaction numbers usually appear in the UC system within 1-3 business days after the payment date is assigned. Some important details to know: 1. Transaction numbers generally only update on business days 2. The Money Network card funding typically happens 24-48 hours after the transaction number appears 3. First payments after appeals often include all eligible back weeks You should be able to see your money within a week. If the transaction number doesn't appear by the 3rd business day after your payment date, that would be the time to follow up with UC.

Thank you for the detailed breakdown! This timeline makes me feel better. I'll wait until next Wednesday before I start to worry.

My cousin went through the same thing last month and had a similar payment amount. His money showed up exactly one week after the payment date appeared. I think you're gonna be fine!

Mine was slow after appeal but not months. Maybe 10 days total? What I learned is that if there's an issue, calling early can sometimes fix it before it becomes a bigger problem. I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual PA UC rep without waiting all day. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. The rep I talked to was able to see exactly what was happening with my payment and told me exactly when to expect it. Saved me weeks of stress.

It's not unusual at all. When a referee decides in the claimant's favor at the hearing (rather than taking it under advisement), the system can update within 24-48 hours. Direct hearing decisions get processed quickly.

UPDATE: Transaction number appeared this morning! Only took 2 business days after the payment date showed up. Thanks for all the helpful comments - definitely reduced my anxiety. My Money Network card has been inactive for so long I had to call and reset the PIN, but everything's good to go now. This feels like a huge weight off my shoulders.

Congratulations on your successful appeal! 🎉 It sounds like everything is moving along perfectly - seeing both the payment date AND getting the transaction number within just 2 business days is exactly how it should work. Don't forget to check that your Money Network card is active and ready to receive the funds. Sometimes people forget their PINs after months of inactivity (sounds like you already handled that though!). You should see the money hit your card within the next 1-2 days. What a relief this must be after 6 weeks of fighting!
