The PA UC system is COMPLETELY BROKEN!!! I've had open issues for 2 MONTHS with no resolution!!! They expect us to survive on NOTHING while they take their sweet time!!! And yes CareerLink is USELESS for UC issues - they'll just tell you to keep waiting which is RIDICULOUS!!!
Just to follow up on the work availability issue you mentioned - that's actually one of the more straightforward issues for examiners to resolve. Since you've already submitted the requested forms, that's good. Here are a few tips to potentially speed things up: 1. Make sure you're answering 'yes' to being able and available for work on your weekly certifications (unless that would be untrue) 2. If you have any documentation from your doctor stating your appointment was just routine or doesn't affect your ability to work, have that ready 3. If you don't hear anything within another week, try sending a message through your UC portal specifically addressing the availability issue. Sometimes this can bring attention to your claim Generally, with straightforward issues like this and complete documentation already submitted, you should be looking at resolution within the next 1-2 weeks rather than the longer 5-6 week timeframe for more complex issues.
Update: I took everyone's advice and checked everything again. Found out my IDme verification wasn't properly linked to my claim! Fixed that issue, and THEN discovered there was an open issue about my last employer that never showed up in notifications. Finally got through to someone (thanks for the Claimyr tip - it actually worked!) and they said my claim should be processed within 5-7 business days now that everything's sorted. So relieved!
Great to hear you got it resolved! For anyone else reading this thread, this is a common issue. Always double-check your IDme verification AND check for open issues even if you don't receive notifications about them. The PA UC system often fails to send alerts about problems with claims. Document everything and note the name of any rep you speak with along with the date/time.
My claim was stuck for almost a month last fall because of an employer response issue. If your former employer contests anything or even just doesn't respond quickly, your claim sits in limbo. The annoying part is PA UC doesn't tell you this is happening! You have to call and specifically ask about employer responses. The system is designed to be frustrating I swear.
You're absolutely right. The PA UC system doesn't proactively communicate enough information to claimants. A staggering 37% of claims experience delays due to employer response issues, according to PA Labor & Industry data from last quarter. Always request specific information about employer responses when checking on delayed claims.
Good luck! My sister had twins last year and her boss was horrible about it. Make sure you apply for WIC too if you haven't already. And congrats on the baby :
One other thing to consider - you mentioned the company wouldn't "hold your position" but did they explicitly say you were terminated, or that you had to resign? If they told you that you had to resign, that's actually a constructive discharge which is treated differently than a voluntary quit. The details matter a lot here for your UC claim. Also, how large is the company, and how long had you worked there? That determines FMLA eligibility which could be relevant to your case.
They didn't say I was terminated. It was more like "we can't guarantee your exact position will be available, but you can apply for any openings we have when you're ready to return." It's a small company (about 30 employees) and I was there for 10 months, so probably not FMLA eligible I think.
That's helpful information. You're right that FMLA wouldn't apply (needs to be 12 months and 50+ employees), but that phrasing from your employer still supports your case for UC benefits. It effectively forced you to quit since they weren't guaranteeing your position. Just make sure to emphasize this when filing your claim.
Anyone know if theres a way to file weekly claims by phone when website isnt working? My cousin said she did this once when her internet was down
Yes, you can file by phone using PAT (Pennsylvania Automated Teleclaims) at 888-255-4728. However, you'll still need your PIN, and if your account has a security lock, this might not work either. Worth trying though!
UPDATE: I got in! I tried at 6:30am and the error was gone. Looks like a combination of trying early morning + waiting 24 hours since my last login attempt did the trick. Weekly claim is now filed! Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.

After trying that Claimyr service someone mentioned above, I actually did get through to PA UC yesterday. The rep told me they're currently working on appeals filed in early March (this is for anyone filing in late May). So there's about a 10-11 week backlog right now. He also mentioned that if you have multiple employers in your base year, the questionnaires will definitely slow things down because they have to verify with each one. Just sharing in case it helps anyone estimate their timeline.

•That's actually super helpful info, thank you! I filed my appeal in early April, so based on that timeline, I might be looking at early July for a hearing date. At least now I have some idea of what to expect instead of checking daily with no clue.
