UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know that my direct deposit switch went through! Took 8 business days for the status to change to active in the system. My payment from last week went to the Money Network card as expected, but today's payment hit my bank account directly! Thanks everyone for the helpful information and suggestions. Such a relief to be done with that card!
Great to hear! Thanks for updating us. I'd still recommend keeping that Money Network card in a safe place until your claim ends, just in case there are any issues or adjustments that might get sent there.
Congrats on getting it switched over! I'm going through the same process right now - submitted my direct deposit info 3 days ago and the waiting is killing me. Those Money Network fees are absolutely ridiculous, especially when you're already struggling financially. Good to know it typically takes about a week to process. Did you get any kind of confirmation email when the status changed, or did you just have to keep checking the portal?
So happy to hear you got your money! I'm in a similar situation - my claim was approved yesterday after 8 weeks of waiting. This thread is super helpful, especially knowing that the website status might not update even when the payment goes through. I'll keep checking my account over the next few days. Thanks for sharing your experience and congrats on finally getting what you were owed!
Hey Connor! I'm so glad this thread helped you out - I know how stressful the waiting can be. 8 weeks is way too long but at least you're finally approved! Definitely keep checking your account like you said. From what I've learned here, it sounds like most people get their money within 2-5 business days with direct deposit. The fact that the website doesn't update reliably seems to be a common issue with PA UC. Hope you see your backpay soon and thanks for the congrats! 🙂
This is such a relief to see! I've been waiting 6 weeks for my claim to get approved and posts like this give me hope. Quick question - when you say your account showed the benefit amount and taxes, was that visible right when it changed to approved status or did it take a few hours? I'm trying to figure out what signs to look for that things are actually moving forward. The PA UC system is so confusing!
What a stupid system. WHY can't they just put some kind of explanation in their stupid system when they make you file a new claim?? I swear they do this stuff on purpose to make people give up on getting benefits they're entitled to. Glad you got it fixed but it shouldn't be this complicated!!!
I 100% agree. It would've taken them 2 seconds to add a message explaining why I needed to file a new claim instead of leaving us all confused and panicking. At least it's resolved now!
Hey everyone! I'm new to this community but going through something similar right now. I was getting partial benefits while working reduced hours at a restaurant, then last week they told me they're cutting all my shifts indefinitely due to "slow season." When I went to file my weekly claim yesterday, the system forced me to file a brand new claim too! Reading through all these comments is both scary and helpful - scary because it sounds like this could take weeks to resolve, but helpful because now I know what's happening. I'm definitely going to try that Claimyr service that @Zoe Stavros mentioned since I can't afford to wait weeks either. Thanks @QuantumQuester for explaining the "job separation issue" - that makes so much more sense than the system just randomly making us refile for no reason. Going to gather up all my documentation from my employer showing the hour cuts before I try to call. This whole system really needs better communication! A simple "Your claim requires review due to change in employment status" message would save everyone so much stress and confusion.
To sum things up for you since there's some conflicting information here: 1. Yes, reopen your claim now since it was closed after your full-time week 2. After reopening, certify EVERY week going forward regardless of hours worked 3. Report all gross earnings accurately each week 4. Continue completing your work search requirements every week (2 job applications + 1 work search activity) 5. For weeks you earn over your benefit amount + PBC, you'll receive $0 but your claim stays active 6. You won't need to reopen your claim again as long as you keep certifying weekly This approach ensures your claim stays active during fluctuating work schedules and you'll receive partial benefits for eligible weeks automatically.
Just wanted to add my experience as someone who went through this same situation recently. I work seasonal construction and have dealt with partial UC claims for the past two years. The key thing that helped me was setting up a simple spreadsheet to track my weekly earnings and hours worked. This made it SO much easier when certifying each week and helped me catch a calculation error PA made once. Also, don't stress too much about the "reopen" process - it's usually pretty straightforward online and processes quickly. The most important thing is being consistent with your weekly certifications and accurate with your earnings reporting. I've found that as long as you're honest and consistent, the system actually works pretty well for partial claims. Good luck with your new job!

Update: My payment status just changed to 'paid' this morning and now shows a transaction number! Thanks everyone for the reassurance. Now I'll just keep an eye out for the card in the mail. Hopefully it comes before rent is due, but at least I know the money is on its way.

•Great news! Now that your payment shows 'paid' with a transaction number, you should receive your Money Network card within 7-10 business days. Remember to activate it immediately when it arrives. For future reference, once you have your card and online account set up, you can also choose direct deposit to your personal bank account for future payments if you prefer that over the card.

Congrats on getting your payment to "paid" status! That's always such a relief. Just wanted to add that when your Money Network card does arrive, make sure to keep the envelope it comes in - it has important activation instructions and the customer service number printed on it. Also, if you're still worried about timing for rent, some landlords will accept a screenshot of your "paid" status with transaction number as proof that payment is coming, especially if you explain the card delivery situation. Worth asking if you're cutting it close!
