If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I'm going through this exact same situation right now and it's so frustrating! Just got my first "waiting week" status yesterday and I had absolutely no idea this was even a thing. Like everyone else here, I'm scrambling to figure out how to cover my bills this month. The lack of clear communication from PA UC is honestly shocking - this should be explained right up front during the application process, not something we have to discover after the fact when we're already stressed about money. Reading through all these responses has been incredibly helpful though. I'm definitely going to start that spreadsheet tracking system for work search activities and look into the emergency rental assistance programs people mentioned. It's really reassuring to know I'm not the only one caught off guard by this policy. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and practical tips - this community is way more helpful than any official PA UC resources I've found!

I totally feel your frustration! I'm in the exact same boat right now - just saw that waiting week status pop up and my heart sank because I was counting on that money for rent. It's honestly ridiculous that they don't mention this anywhere during the application process. I've been reading through all the advice in this thread and it's been a lifesaver. Definitely going to call my utility company about that shutoff protection someone mentioned, and I'm already looking up emergency rental assistance in my county. The spreadsheet idea for tracking work search activities is genius too - going to start that today. It's crazy that we have to learn about all these important details from each other instead of from PA UC directly. At least we're all in this together and helping each other navigate this confusing system!

I'm dealing with this same waiting week situation right now and I'm honestly so relieved to find this thread! Just filed my first weekly claim and saw that "waiting week" status with no explanation of what it actually means. Reading everyone's experiences here has been incredibly eye-opening - I had no clue I wouldn't get paid for that first week. It's really frustrating that PA UC doesn't clearly communicate this upfront, especially when people are already dealing with the financial stress of being unemployed. I'm definitely going to start tracking my work search activities in a spreadsheet like someone suggested, and I'm going to look into those emergency assistance programs people mentioned. Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge and making this confusing process a bit less overwhelming. This community has been way more helpful than any official PA UC resources!

Mei Lin

I'm right there with you! Just discovered this thread after getting confused by my own "waiting week" status. It's honestly mind-boggling that something this significant isn't clearly explained during the application process - like why wouldn't they just add one simple sentence saying "Note: Your first eligible week will be unpaid due to Pennsylvania's waiting week policy"? Instead we're all here piecing together information after the fact when we're already stressed about finances. I'm definitely implementing that spreadsheet tracking system everyone's talking about - seems like the smart way to stay organized and audit-ready. Also going to research those local assistance programs mentioned earlier. It's such a relief to know we're not alone in being blindsided by this policy!

UPDATE: I finally got through to PA UC! Used that Claimyr service someone mentioned and was connected in about 15 mins. The rep confirmed it was an error in their system and removed the waiting week - payments should be processed in 2-3 business days. She said they've been seeing this problem a lot lately with reopened claims. Thanks everyone for your help!

Excellent! I'm glad you got it resolved. This is a really common error in the PA UC system that unfortunately affects many claimants. For anyone else reading this thread with the same issue, always remember that waiting weeks should NOT apply when reopening an existing claim within the same benefit year.

Thanks for updating us! So annoying they keep making this same mistake over and over. They should just fix their system instead of making everyone call in!

Wow, this is so helpful to read! I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now - just reopened my claim after a temp job ended and they're holding a waiting week even though my benefit year doesn't expire until September. It's ridiculous that this is such a common system error but they haven't fixed it yet. Going to try calling first thing tomorrow morning at 8am like someone suggested, but good to know about the Claimyr option as backup. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences here - makes me feel less alone in dealing with this frustrating system!

@Anna Xian I m'going through this same nightmare right now too! Just filed yesterday and seeing that dreaded waiting "week message." It s'so frustrating that PA UC keeps making this same mistake - you d'think they d'have fixed their system by now instead of forcing everyone to waste time calling in. Definitely try the 8am call strategy first since it s'free, but if that doesn t'work the Claimyr thing might be worth it. I ve'been unemployed for 2 weeks already and can t'afford to lose another week of benefits to their computer glitch. Let me know how it goes for you!

Good luck with your claim! You definitely did the right thing by being completely honest about everything. I went through a similar situation last year where I had to explain a complicated employment situation to PA UC. The waiting period is nerve-wracking, but since you were legitimately laid off from your primary job due to lack of work, that's really the key factor they'll focus on. The commission job situation sounds like it falls under necessitous and compelling circumstances since you couldn't reasonably be expected to survive financially without any guaranteed income. Keep filing your weekly claims while you wait - even if there's a delay, you'll get backpay if approved. Fingers crossed you hear back soon!

Thank you so much for the encouragement! It really helps to hear from someone who went through something similar. You're right about the waiting being nerve-wracking - I keep checking the portal every few hours even though I know it won't update that quickly. I'm definitely going to keep filing weekly claims as advised. Really appreciate everyone's support in this thread!

I'm in a somewhat similar situation right now - got laid off last month but had already accepted a part-time retail job that barely covers my expenses. The whole multiple employer thing definitely complicates the UC application process. From what I've learned, PA really does focus on your primary job loss when determining eligibility. Since you were legitimately laid off for lack of work from your main source of income, that should work in your favor. The commission job situation sounds like it clearly falls under financial hardship since there's no guaranteed income. I think you handled it perfectly by being completely transparent. The adjudication process is slow but at least you'll know you did everything by the book. Hope you get good news soon!

Just a heads up for anyone still struggling with the CareerLink website - if you're getting error messages or the site keeps timing out, try clearing your browser cache and cookies first. I was having issues for days and this simple fix solved it immediately. Also, make sure you're not using any browser extensions that might block scripts or cookies, as CareerLink needs these to function properly. If you're still having trouble after that, the mobile version of the site (on your phone) sometimes works better than the desktop version. Hope this helps someone avoid the frustration I went through!

This is so helpful! I've been getting those timeout errors constantly. Just tried clearing my cache and cookies like you suggested and the site is loading much faster now. I was able to finally complete my profile registration that had been stuck for two days. The mobile version tip is great too - I'll definitely keep that in mind as a backup option. Thanks for sharing these troubleshooting steps, you probably just saved me hours of frustration!

Another tip for anyone booking CareerLink appointments - if you're in a rural area or your local office has limited availability, you can schedule virtual appointments too! I live pretty far from my nearest office and was worried about travel time with my work schedule. Found out they offer video call appointments that count the same as in-person visits for UC requirements. Just select "Virtual Appointment" when choosing your appointment type. You'll need a computer or phone with camera/microphone, but it's super convenient. Still brings the same required documents (ID, resume, etc) but you can do it from home. The counselor was just as helpful as an in-person visit would have been!

This is amazing! I had no idea virtual appointments were an option. I've been stressing about getting time off work to drive to my local CareerLink office, but a virtual appointment would be so much easier to fit into my schedule. Do you know if all CareerLink offices offer virtual appointments, or is it only certain locations? And when you scheduled it, did you need any special software installed or does it just work through a web browser? This could be a game-changer for me!

That's such great news about your hearing! The fact that they couldn't provide any documentation when asked is huge - employers are required to prove misconduct with actual evidence, not just claims. I went through something similar last year where my employer made all sorts of accusations but had zero paperwork to back it up. The referee ruled in my favor within a week because of their lack of evidence. Sounds like you did everything right by being prepared and staying calm. Fingers crossed you get your decision soon!

0 coins

Thanks for sharing your experience! It's really reassuring to hear from someone who went through the same thing. I was so worried they might somehow win despite having no real evidence. The whole process has been so stressful, especially after already dealing with the initial weeks of waiting for approval. Did your employer try to appeal again after losing at the referee level, or did they give up at that point?

0 coins

In my case, they actually did try to appeal to the Board of Review, but it was denied pretty quickly - maybe 3 weeks later. I think once employers realize they don't have solid documentation, most of them don't bother with the second appeal since it costs them more time and resources. The Board of Review tends to be even stricter about requiring actual evidence of misconduct. Hopefully your employer will just accept the referee's decision and move on!

0 coins

Congratulations on getting through the hearing! It sounds like you were really well-prepared and that made all the difference. The fact that your employer couldn't provide any documentation when the referee asked is a huge red flag for their case - employers are supposed to have policies in writing and proof that employees were trained on them if they're going to claim policy violations. I've seen so many cases where companies try to claim misconduct after the fact but have nothing to back it up. The referee asking for specific documentation and them coming up empty-handed is exactly what you want to see. Keep checking your correspondence regularly for the decision - it usually comes as a determination letter. Really hoping this works out in your favor after all the stress you've been through!

0 coins

This is so encouraging to read! I'm new to this whole unemployment appeals process and was really worried about what to expect. The fact that they couldn't produce any documentation when asked by the referee gives me hope that employers can't just make random accusations without backing them up. I'm dealing with a similar situation where my former employer is claiming misconduct months after my termination, and like you, I suspect they're just trying to avoid higher UC taxes. Thanks for sharing your experience - it helps those of us going through this stressful process to know what actually happens in these hearings!
