PA UC new benefit year issue: 'No employment history' after BYE date - how to fix?

I've got a weird situation with my PA unemployment. My original claim from last year just hit the BYE (benefit year end) date right after they FINALLY approved it (took forever!). So I filed a new claim like you're supposed to, and now I see a fresh balance in my account which is great, but there's an 'open issue' saying 'no employment history'. I don't understand because I worked at Target from March to November 2024 before getting laid off again. I uploaded my W-2 and everything during the application. Has anyone dealt with this 'no employment history' issue when filing after a BYE date? Do I need to call them or will it resolve automatically? It's been 8 days and I'm getting nervous about bills.

same thing happend to me last month!!! when ur BYE hits they need new employment info even if u already gave it to them. the system is seriously broken. mine said no employment history for like 3 weeks then magically fixed itself without me doing anything. some ppl say u gotta call but good luck with that lol

3 weeks?? Ugh I can't wait that long. Did you do anything special or literally just wait it out? Did you keep filing your weekly claims during that time?

This is a common issue with new benefit years. When your BYE date arrives, PA UC requires that you've worked and earned enough during your base period to qualify for a new claim. The 'no employment history' flag appears when the system is still processing your employment verification documents or if there's a discrepancy in your reported wages. You should: 1. Continue filing your weekly certifications 2. Check if there are any action items in your dashboard 3. Make sure your employer reported your wages correctly to the state 4. If it's been more than 10 business days, you need to contact PA UC directly Having your W-2 uploaded is good, but sometimes they need additional verification, especially if your employer's quarterly wage reports don't match exactly.

Thank you for this detailed explanation! I'll keep filing weekly. Is there any way to check if my employer reported wages correctly? I don't have any action items showing up in my dashboard.

You can request your wage and employment history through your PA UC dashboard under "View and Maintain Account Information" then "View your personal info" and then "View your employment history." Compare this to your own records. If there's a discrepancy, you'll need to provide proof of employment (pay stubs, etc.) to correct it.

I think everyone here is missing the MAIN issue! The system rarely automatically resolves the "no employment history" problem when it comes up after a BYE date!! They SAY they'll review it but in my experience you NEED to talk to an actual person or you'll be waiting FOREVER!!! I was in the same situation in January and waited 6 WEEKS with no movement until I finally got through to a rep who fixed it in 5 minutes!!!

yep this is 100% right - happened to my sister too! u gotta talk to someone or it just sits there forever. the online system is useless for this specific problem

Oh no, that's what I was afraid of. I've been trying to call for days but can't get through. It's so frustrating that something a rep can fix in minutes takes weeks because you can't reach anyone!

I dealt with this exact issue earlier this year. The "no employment history" after hitting your BYE date is unfortunately very common, and here's what you need to know: 1. This issue almost always requires speaking with a representative to resolve 2. While waiting, DEFINITELY continue filing your weekly claims 3. Once resolved, you'll receive all back payments you're eligible for 4. The rep will need to manually verify your employment history I recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to PA UC. They helped me get through to a representative when I couldn't get past the busy signals for weeks. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2 The representative should be able to see your uploaded W-2, but sometimes the system doesn't properly connect these documents to your new claim after the BYE date.

Thank you for the suggestion! I'm getting desperate at this point. I'll check out that service. Did you have to provide any additional documentation when you finally got through to a rep?

No additional documents were needed in my case since I had already uploaded my W-2 and pay stubs. The rep just needed to manually review and approve them. They could see everything already in the system, it just needed human intervention to move forward.

has anyone checked if ther is a time limit to resolve this after BYE date?? i'm having the opposite problem where they DID resolve my employment history issue but then a NEW problem came up. the whole system is rigged to delay payments if u ask me.

There's no specific time limit for resolving issues, but PA UC is supposed to make a determination within 21 days of detecting an issue. That rarely happens though. What's your new problem? Maybe we can help.

UPDATE: I managed to get through to PA UC this morning after trying that Claimyr service! The rep confirmed my employment history was actually there in the system but wasn't properly linked to my new claim. She fixed it on the spot and said my payments should process within 2-3 business days. She also confirmed I should keep filing weekly claims while waiting. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for your help!

EXACTLY what happened to me!! So glad you got it resolved! The system is so broken that it takes a human to do something that should be automatic!
