When will NY unemployment deposit hit my account - released today but payment timing?
My NY unemployment payment status changed to 'released' today (Thursday). Does anyone know if I'll receive the deposit tomorrow (Friday) or will I have to wait until Monday? I'm with Chase bank if that matters. Really need this payment ASAP for rent that's already late.

It depends on your bank. Most people get payments 1-2 business days after the release date. If it was released today, there's a good chance you'll see it tomorrow, especially with a major bank like Chase. They're usually pretty quick with government deposits. If not tomorrow, then definitely Monday.

•Thanks, that's somewhat reassuring. I'm just nervous because my landlord is already on my case about the rent. Hoping it shows up tomorrow!

•That's good to hear! Did your payment status change to 'released' in the morning or later in the day when you got it same-day?

My brother gets his with Wells Fargo and it's ALWAYS 2 days after release. So annoying... but I think Chase is faster from what I've heard.

The standard processing time for NY unemployment direct deposits is 1-2 business days after the payment is released in the system. With Chase specifically, most people see their deposits the next business day if the payment was released before 3pm. If it was released later in the day, it might arrive on Monday. If you're concerned about tracking your payment or need to escalate due to your rent situation, you should call NYSDOL directly. Many people have luck using Claimyr.com to get through to an agent quickly rather than waiting on hold for hours. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Thank you for the detailed info! It was released around 11am, so hopefully that means tomorrow. I'll check out that Claimyr service if I don't see it by Monday - can't afford to wait on hold all day with my work schedule.

NEVER COUNT ON IT BEING THERE UNTIL YOU SEE IT!!! NY unemployment system is a JOKE! Mine said released THREE TIMES last month and then went back to pending!!! Had to call 36 times to get it fixed!!!

•This is very unusual and not the typical experience. If a payment shows as 'released' it generally means the funds have been sent to your bank. What likely happened in your case was a flag on your account that needed verification, which is why calling resolved it. For most people, once it shows 'released' it's actually on the way.

Im in the exact same situation right now!!! Mine was released today too & I'm literally checking my bank account every hour. My landlord already gave me a 14-day notice & I'm freaking out. Have you gotten yours yet??

•Not yet, still nothing as of 3pm Friday. Now I'm worried it won't come until Monday. This is so stressful.

speaking of payments, does anyone know if they're doing any cola increases in 2025? my benefits seem so small compared to what bills cost now

•That's a different topic, but yes, NY is implementing a 2.3% increase starting July 2025. Maybe start a separate thread about that question.

UPDATE: Just got the deposit this morning (Friday) at 6:30am! So for Chase, it took about 18 hours from when it showed as released. Hope this helps anyone else wondering about timing.
