Previous employer claiming insubordination to block New York Unemployment - waiting 6 weeks
My weekly certifications haven't paid out for 6 weeks because my previous employer is claiming I was insubordinate. They are known to be dishonest and manipulate the system. Anyone deal with this before? Will I get to tell my side of the story?

Been there done that. My ex boss tried the same thing. You'll get a hearing where you can explain your side. Document EVERYTHING. Save all emails texts and communications. If you were written up get those copies. The burden of proof is on them to show you were actually insubordinate 💯

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at unemployment to check your case status. Used this site claimyr.com - it costs $20 but they dial and wait on hold then connect you when someone picks up. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

IMPORTANT: Make sure you respond to ANY correspondence from unemployment ASAP. They give you like 7 days to reply to stuff and if you miss it you're screwed

Listen here's exactly what you need to do as someone who went through this exact thing: 1. Gather all documentation - emails, texts, performance reviews, everything 2. Write down a detailed timeline of events while its fresh in your mind 3. If you have any witnesses who can back up your side, get their contact info 4. Check your mail EVERYDAY - they'll send hearing info through regular mail 5. Use claimyr.com to get through to an agent and check your case status 6. During the hearing be professional and stick to facts - don't get emotional 7. Remember unemployment usually sides with employees unless theres clear misconduct My ex employer tried this garbage too but I won my case. The system is actually designed to protect workers. Don't stress too much 👊
