No text after determination letter mailed - Denied NY unemployment?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my unemployment claim. They told me a determination letter was sent out on Wednesday, but I haven't gotten any text saying my claim is ready to be paid. During the pandemic, I remember getting a text right away when I was approved. Does this mean I probably got denied? Anyone else experience this?

Ugh, the waiting game is the worst. I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. Sometimes the system is slow AF and texts can be delayed. Give it a few more days before you start panicking.

Yeah, I second this. NY unemployment is notoriously slow. Hang in there OP!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work?

Idk man, paying to get through seems sketchy. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it's legit. The site uses an autodialer to get through the menu and wait on hold. When an agent picks up, it calls your phone. Saved me hours of frustration.

In my experience, no news is good news with NY unemployment. If you were denied, they usually send that info pretty quick. Keep your chin up!

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes updates show up there before you get a text or letter.

3 months?! That's insane. Have you tried contacting your local rep? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with NY unemployment: 1. Don't assume anything based on past experiences, even from the pandemic. The process changes constantly. 2. Texts and online updates can be inconsistent. Some people get them, others don't. 3. The determination letter is key. Wait for that before jumping to conclusions. 4. If you don't hear anything within 10 business days of them saying they mailed the letter, it's time to follow up. 5. Use every method to contact them - phone, email, and even social media. 6. If all else fails, consider using a service like claimyr.com to get through on the phone. It costs a bit, but can save you hours of frustration. 7. Document everything - dates of letters, calls, and any communication. 8. Be patient but persistent. The system is overloaded, but your claim is important. Hang in there, OP. It's a tough process, but you'll get through it!

Have you tried calling? I know its a pain, but sometimes you gotta be the squeaky wheel to get the grease.

Ugh, I've tried but can never get through. Might have to try that claimyr thing someone mentioned.
