How long after determination letter and waiting week for NY unemployment payment?

Hey everyone, I just got my determination letter for ny unemployment and completed my waiting week. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get approved and receive the first payment after this? I'm getting anxious about when the money will come through. Any experiences or info would be really helpful!

I found a way to solve NY unemployment payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUncbDq9cck

It can vary, but in my experience, it took about 2-3 weeks after the waiting week to get my first payment. Hang in there!

Thanks for sharing! Did you have to do anything else during those 2-3 weeks, or did it just show up?

0 coins

Nope, I just kept certifying weekly and it showed up. Make sure you keep doing that!

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? πŸ€”

β€’

Yeah, I'm skeptical. Why should we have to pay to talk to unemployment?

β€’

I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. I was desperate after trying for weeks and this actually worked. The $20 was worth it to finally get answers.

Can you explain more about how it works? Do they give you any guarantee?

AaliyahAli

β€’

Sure! Basically, you choose which line you need to call on their website, pay the fee, and their system starts calling. It navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls your phone and connects you. No guarantee, but they say if you don't get connected, you can try again for free.

It took me about 10 days after the waiting week to see my first payment. But I've heard it can take up to a month for some people. The system is so backed up rn πŸ™„

A month?! 😱 I hope it doesn't take that long. Bills are piling up...

I feel ya. If it goes past 3 weeks, def try to get ahold of someone. That claimyr thing the other person mentioned might be worth a shot if you're desperate.

Here's what I know about the ny unemployment process after your waiting week: β€’ You should continue to certify for benefits every week, even if you haven't received a payment yet. β€’ Typically, if everything is in order, you should see your first payment within 2-3 weeks after the waiting week. β€’ Make sure to check your payment history on the NYSDOL website regularly. β€’ If you don't see any movement after 3 weeks, it's time to try contacting them. β€’ The fastest way to get answers is usually by phone, but it can be nearly impossible to get through. β€’ I've heard good things about using claimyr.com to get through the phone lines if you're willing to pay a small fee. β€’ You can also try reaching out via their social media accounts, some people have had luck there. Remember, every case is different, so these are just general guidelines. If you're really struggling while waiting, don't forget to look into local food banks or rental assistance programs. Hang in there!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! This is super helpful. I'll definitely keep certifying and check my payment history.

Great advice! πŸ’― Especially about the local assistance programs, those can be a lifesaver.

Has anyone else noticed that the payment dates on the website don't always match when the money actually hits your account? Driving me crazy trying to budget!

β€’

Yes! I thought I was going crazy. It usually takes an extra day or two for me.

Same here. I think it depends on your bank too. Direct deposit seems faster than the debit card option.

Pro tip: if you're really stuck, try reaching out to your local state representative's office. They sometimes have connections and can help push things along with ny unemployment.

That's a great idea, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat, been waiting for 4 weeks now 😭 Starting to lose hope...

Don't give up! Have you tried calling? I know its a pain, but sometimes you gotta be persistent.

I've tried calling but can never get through. Might have to try that claimyr thing someone mentioned above...

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Got my determination letter last week and just finished my waiting week. It's so nerve-wracking not knowing when that first payment will hit. From what I'm reading here, sounds like 2-3 weeks is pretty normal, but some people are waiting way longer. I've been checking the NYSDOL website obsessively every day πŸ˜… At least we're not alone in this waiting game!

I totally get the obsessive website checking! πŸ˜… I've been doing the same thing multiple times a day. It's reassuring to know we're going through this together. Hopefully we'll both see our payments soon - fingers crossed we're in that 2-3 week group and not the longer waiters!

I just went through this exact process about 2 months ago! After my determination letter and waiting week, it took exactly 12 days to get my first payment. The key things that helped me were: 1) Making sure I certified every single week without missing any, even when nothing was showing up 2) Double-checking that my direct deposit info was correct in my profile 3) Keeping screenshots of everything just in case. I know the waiting is super stressful, but it sounds like you're on the right track! The determination letter is actually a really good sign - it means they've processed your claim and you're approved. Just keep certifying and it should come through soon. Hang in there! πŸ’ͺ

This is super helpful, thank you! 12 days sounds pretty reasonable. I'm definitely keeping up with my weekly certifications and have been taking screenshots of everything too. It's good to hear that the determination letter is a positive sign - that makes me feel a bit better about the whole process. Did you get any kind of notification when the payment was processed, or did it just show up in your account one day?

I'm in a similar situation - got my determination letter about a week ago and just completed my waiting week yesterday. Reading through everyone's experiences here is really helpful! It sounds like the 2-3 week timeline is pretty common, though some folks are waiting longer. I'm trying to stay patient but it's tough when you're counting on that money. One thing I noticed is that everyone emphasizes keeping up with the weekly certifications even when nothing's showing up - definitely going to make sure I don't miss any of those. Thanks to everyone sharing their timelines and tips, it really helps to know what to expect! 🀞

Same here! Just got my determination letter a few days ago and feeling anxious about the wait. It's really reassuring to see everyone's experiences and know that 2-3 weeks seems to be the norm. I'm definitely going to be religious about those weekly certifications - seems like that's the most important thing to stay on top of. Good luck to all of us waiting! Hopefully we'll all see our payments soon 🀞

I went through this same process earlier this year and can share my timeline! After getting my determination letter and completing the waiting week, my first payment came through in exactly 16 days. The waiting was absolutely brutal - I was checking my account and the NYSDOL website multiple times daily πŸ˜… A few things that helped me stay sane during the wait: β€’ Set up account alerts with my bank so I'd get notified immediately when any deposit came through β€’ Kept a simple calendar marking when I certified each week β€’ Saved all confirmation numbers from my weekly certifications The most important thing is definitely keeping up with those weekly certifications - I've heard horror stories of people missing one week and having to start over. Also, don't panic if your payment history shows "pending" for a while, that's totally normal. You're so close now that you have the determination letter! That's really the hardest part. The payment will come, just try to hang in there! πŸ’™

Thank you so much for sharing your detailed timeline! 16 days sounds very reasonable and your tips are super practical. I love the idea of setting up bank alerts - that would definitely help with the obsessive checking! πŸ˜… I'm already keeping track of my certification confirmations, so it's good to know I'm on the right track. It's really encouraging to hear that the determination letter means I'm through the hardest part. The waiting is tough but knowing others have been through this exact same process and came out okay really helps keep me motivated!

I'm in the exact same situation! Got my determination letter last Friday and just finished my waiting week on Sunday. The anxiety is real - I keep refreshing my account hoping something will change πŸ˜… It's really helpful reading everyone's experiences here. Sounds like 2-3 weeks is pretty typical, though some people wait longer. I'm making sure to certify every week religiously and keeping all my confirmation numbers. The uncertainty is the hardest part, but at least we're all going through this together! Hoping we all see our payments soon 🀞

I totally feel you on the constant refreshing! πŸ˜… I'm literally in the same boat - got my determination letter around the same time and just wrapped up my waiting week too. It's so nerve-wracking not knowing exactly when that first payment will hit, especially when you're really counting on it. But reading through all these experiences is definitely making me feel better about the whole process. Seems like most people are seeing their payments within 2-3 weeks, which gives me hope we won't be waiting too much longer. I'm also being super careful about those weekly certifications - definitely don't want to mess anything up now that we're so close! Here's to hoping we're both in the shorter wait group! 🀞
