New York Unemployment denied after layoff due to not meeting earnings requirement
I got denied unemployment after being laid off from my job. They said I didn't work enough hours or make enough money to qualify. How is this possible when I was laid off and didn't quit or get fired? Makes no sense that they can deny benefits when the company literally let me go.

Yeah its crazy but NY requires you to have earned at least $3,100 in your base period and worked in at least 2 quarters. Doesn't matter if you were laid off, you still gotta meet those requirements first 🤷♂️

I found a way to actually talk to someone about this! Used this service called claimyr.com that calls and waits on hold, then connects you when they get someone. Costs $20 but worth it to get answers. Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•100% legit, used it twice already. Better than calling 500 times yourself lol

•$20 to get through? cheaper than losing my mind on hold tbh 💯

Look up 'alternate base period' - might help if ur regular base period doesn't qualify. Sometimes they can use more recent work history

The whole system is designed to make it hard to get benefits. Been there done that got the t-shirt 🤡

Here's what you need to know about NY unemployment qualification requirements: Base Period Requirements: - Must have earned at least $3,100 in base period - Worked in at least 2 quarters - Can use alternative base period if regular doesn't qualify If you need to appeal or discuss your case, definitely try claimyr.com to get through to someone. Way better than waiting forever. Also check if you have any wages from other jobs in your base period - everything counts! Don't give up, keep fighting for your benefits. The system is complicated but there might be options you haven't explored yet.
