New York Unemployment Work Search Requirements for Real Estate Agent - Need Help with Meeting
Just started getting unemployment and received a letter about mandatory work search meeting. I work in real estate but haven't had any income lately. Not sure if showing my real estate work search efforts is enough or if I need to look for other types of jobs too. Anyone been through this meeting process before?

You definitely need to show that youre looking for other jobs too. Real estate alone wont cut it. They want to see at least 3 work search activities per week - applying to jobs, sending resumes, going to job fairs etc. Document everything with screenshots and dates.

•Yep its frustrating but thats how ny unemployment rolls. They dont care if your licensed in something specific.

Hey there - I found a way to actually get someone on the phone about this! Used this site called claimyr.com that calls and waits on hold, then connects you when someone picks up. Costs $20 but totally worth it to get clear answers. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Just went through this last month! The meeting is actually pretty chill. They mainly want to see that youre making an effort. I brought printouts of my Indeed applications, emails to potential employers, and networking event attendance. Keep a spreadsheet of everything you do 💯

Honestly NYS is being extra strict these days with work search requirements. My cousin is a hairdresser and they made her apply to retail jobs too. Its stupid but you gotta play the game 🤡

MASSIVE PRO TIP: Sign up for virtual job fairs - they count as work search activities AND you can do them from home. Also join some LinkedIn groups for real estate AND general job searching. Screenshot everything. The more documentation you have the better your meeting will go. If you need to speak with someone before the meeting, try claimyr.com - saved me hours of calling.
