How long does it take to receive first NYS unemployment payment after effective days start decreasing? ($421 weekly benefit, waiting period processed 11/14)

Just filed my first unemployment claim with New York State. My weekly benefit amount is $421.00 according to my portal. My Start/Effective Date is 11/04/2024 with a Benefit Year Ending Date of 11/09/2025. The system shows I have a Maximum Amount Payable of $10,946.00 with 104 Effective Days Remaining. I already completed my unpaid waiting period (which was processed on 11/14/2024) and certified for my first week ending 11/10/2024. When I check the portal, I can see my effective days going down, but no money has been deposited yet. According to the system information: "Each day in a week (Monday through Sunday) that you qualify for benefits is called an effective day. There is a maximum of 4 effective days each week, and you must qualify for all 4 effective days in order to receive your total weekly benefit rate. For each day in the week that you are not eligible to receive benefits, you will receive one less effective day, which is equivalent to one fourth of your weekly benefit rate." It also says: "Once your claim becomes payable, you may see fewer effective days remaining. This means you are being paid for those days and will soon see this change reflected via the funds in your bank account or debit card." My portal mentions that "If three days have passed since a payment was released and the funds are not in your account, you should contact the Way2Go Program Customer Service line at (844) 649-9845 if you have a debit card." Anyone know typically how long it takes to get the first payment? Since I'm seeing my effective days decreasing, does that mean the payment is already being processed? This is my first time filing, so I'm not familiar with the timeline.

Usually takes 2-3 business days after certification if you have direct deposit set up. If you're getting the debit card it might take 7-10 days for the first one to arrive in the mail.

If you're having trouble reaching them, try claimyr.com. They'll wait on hold and connect you to an agent. Costs $20 but saved me hours of frustration. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO FIRST PAYMENTS: Typical Timeline: - Waiting week processed ✅ - First certification ✅ - Payment released in 2-3 business days (direct deposit) - Debit card arrives 7-10 days If you need to speak with someone, use claimyr.com - they'll handle the hold time. Sometimes getting an agent can speed things up. TIP: Keep certifying weekly even if you haven't received first payment yet. Document everything. Check your payment history page daily for updates. If no payment after 3 business days with direct deposit, something might be wrong. You'll need to call.
