New York Unemployment: Quit job due to breast pumping issues - Can I get benefits?
Need advice about quitting my job at a residential detention facility. My employer isn't giving proper time to pump breast milk. Working 9 hour shifts with no breaks or lunch, only getting to pump twice for 15 mins each time. Missing pumping sessions because of staffing issues and it's affecting my milk supply. Looking for a new job that will accommodate but need to know if I can get unemployment in the meantime.

Yes! This is actually protected under NY labor laws. Document everything - dates, times, communications with supervisor. File a complaint with the Department of Labor. You have the right to reasonable break time and a private space for expressing milk up to 3 years after birth. You could qualify for unemployment since this is considered good cause to leave.
