NYSDOL call dropped while finishing claim - What to do next?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment claim. I was on the phone with NYSDOL and the call dropped right when I was about to finish my claim. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what to do next? I'm worried about having to start all over again.

Ugh, that sucks! I've been there before. The NYSDOL phone system is a nightmare. Have you tried calling back? Sometimes you can get lucky and get through to someone quickly.

I've been trying to call back for hours now. No luck so far. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: try calling right when they open. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold that way.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm skeptical. Why should we have to pay to get through to a government service? 🤔

I get the skepticism, but it honestly saved me so much time and frustration. Worth every penny for me. 🤷‍♂️

How long did it take for them to call you back?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way faster than trying to get through on your own.

Have you tried using their online portal? Sometimes you can finish claims there without having to call.

This is why the system is broken. We shouldnt have to jump through hoops just to get our benefits. Its ridiculous!

Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down the time of your call, who you spoke to (if you remember), and what was discussed. 2. Try calling back immediately. Sometimes you can get reconnected to the same agent. 3. If that doesn't work, use the online portal to send a secure message explaining what happened. 4. Keep calling, but vary your call times. Early morning and late afternoon can be less busy. 5. Consider reaching out to your local state representative. They sometimes have direct lines to DOL. 6. Be persistent but polite. The agents are dealing with high call volumes too. 7. If all else fails, consider using a paid service like the one mentioned in another comment. Remember, your claim isn't lost just because the call dropped. Stay calm and keep trying. Good luck!

Have you checked if theres any updates to the NYSDOL system? Sometimes they do maintenance that messes things up.

I'm in the same boat. Been trying to finish my claim for weeks now. This system is a joke.

Weeks? Oh man, I hope it doesn't take that long for me. 😰

Anyone know if theres a way to schedule a callback? Seems like that would solve a lot of these problems.

I wish! That would be too convenient for NYSDOL though 🙄
