NYSDOL Unemployment: Filed Weekly Claim, No Payment Yet - Advice Needed
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment claim. I filed my weekly claim but haven't received any payment yet. Has anyone else experienced delays lately? I'm getting worried because bills are piling up and I really need this money. Any advice on what I should do or who I should contact?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been waiting for 3 weeks now. It's like they're playing games with our lives. Have you checked your online account for any updates or messages?

Yeah, I've been checking my account obsessively. No updates, no messages, nothing. It's so frustrating!

3 weeks? Amateur hour. Try 2 months without a peep. This system is a joke 🤡

@profile 3 Seriously? 2 months? That's insane! Have you tried contacting your local representative?

I wonder if some claims just slip through the cracks. Have you tried filing a new claim?

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

@profile 5 I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. I was desperate and tried it. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny IMO.

How long did you have to wait after using this service?

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They called me when an agent was on the line.

I've heard mixed reviews about Claimyr. Some people have success, others not so much. Might depend on the time you call or the claim type.

guys. i just got through to someone after 3 weeks of trying. heres what worked for me: 1. call right when they open 2. if u get the "too many callers" message, hang up and redial immediately 3. repeat step 2 until u get in the queue 4. pray to whatever deity u believe in 🙏 it took me 47 attempts this morning but I FINALLY GOT THROUGH. don't give up hope!

47 attempts? That's insane! But congrats on getting through. Were they able to help you?

Good strategy! Persistence pays off, even if it takes a ridiculous number of attempts.

unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just get jobs instead of relying on the government 🤷♂️

Wow, way to be insensitive. Some of us are trying our best in a tough economy. Check your privilege, dude.

For those considering Claimyr, it's definitely a viable option if you're locked out of other methods. However, always weigh the cost against your current financial situation. It might not be practical for everyone, and there are still no guarantees with any method due to the overwhelming demand the system faces.

Has anyone tried faxing? I know it sounds ancient, but I heard it might work...

Sometimes the old school methods are the most reliable. Worth considering if digital avenues fail!

I heard they're implementing a new system soon. Anyone know if that's true or just another rumor?

I saw something about that on the news. Supposedly it'll streamline the process, but I'll believe it when I see it 🙄

Great, another "upgrade" that'll probably make things worse before they get better. 🤦♂️

It's true they're planning on upgrading, but history shows system upgrades often come with initial issues. Fingers crossed it helps eventually!

Hey, I just wanted to add that if you're really in a bind, you might want to reach out to local community organizations or nonprofits. They sometimes offer assistance or know who you can contact for immediate help. It's worth exploring all options when the system isn't working as it should.

Anyone else notice that the website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? 🙃 It's like they're trolling us at this point.

Listen up, folks. I've been through this rodeo before. Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD. 2. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out via social media. EDD has a Twitter account that sometimes responds. 4. Contact your local state representative. They can often help push things along. 5. Make sure all your information is up to date in the system. Any discrepancies can cause delays. 6. If you're really desperate, consider the paid calling service mentioned above. It's not ideal, but it might be worth it if you're at your wits' end. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed, but keep pushing and you'll get through eventually.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely start documenting everything. Do you have any tips for contacting my state rep?

Sure thing! Just google "[your area] state representative" and you should find their contact info. Send a polite but firm email explaining your situation. They're usually pretty responsive.

Great checklist! It's really important to have everything organized. Documentation can make a huge difference if you ever need to escalate the issue.
