NYSDOL: How to reset forgotten PIN for new unemployment claim?

Hey everyone, I'm trying to start a new unemployment claim but I can't remember my PIN. Has anyone else dealt with this? What's the best way to get it reset? I've been trying to call but can't get through to anyone. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Anyone else think its crazy that we have to jump through all these hoops just to access our benefits? Like, we paid into this system! 🤬

For real. My cousin in Canada said their system is so much easier. Why can't we get our act together?

The system definitely needs reform. Hopefully, public attention will push for improvements soon.

Have you tried going to an EDD office in person? Sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get things done with these bureaucrats. Just be prepared to wait in line for a while.

Aisha Jackson

Definitely true! I've had better luck resolving issues in person. Plus, it helps to meet someone who can check everything right away.

I'm in the same boat, OP. Been trying to reach someone for weeks. This whole system is designed to make us give up, I swear. Stay strong! 💪

Solidarity! Just keep pushing through. We're all in this together, and eventually, we'll find a way through.

Have you tried tweeting at EDD? Sometimes public shaming works wonders. Just don't share any personal info!

Haha, it's sad but true that sometimes companies respond faster if they're being called out online. Worth a try!

Have you checked if your local library or community center offers assistance with EDD issues? Some places have volunteers who can help navigate the system.

Great suggestion! I got help from a community center once. They're really knowledgeable and can make the process less overwhelming.

Listen up, folks. I've been dealing with EDD for years, and here's what you need to know about resetting your PIN: 1. Online reset: Go to the EDD website and look for the "Forgot PIN" option. This works maybe 60% of the time. 2. Phone reset: Call the automated system at 1-866-333-4606. Sometimes it'll let you reset by phone. 3. Mail: If all else fails, you can request a PIN reset by mail. But this takes forever, so it's a last resort. 4. Persistence is key: If you can't get through on the phone, keep trying at different times. Early morning or late afternoon sometimes works better. 5. Use the Ask EDD feature on their website to submit a request for PIN reset. Remember, the system is overloaded, so be patient and persistent. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! I'll definitely try these steps. You're a lifesaver 🙏

This is great advice. I wish I had known all this when I was struggling with my claim last month. Saving this for future reference!

Does anyone know if the PIN reset process is different for PUA claims? I heard they changed some stuff recently.

Lindsey Fry

It's similar for PUA claims, but always double-check since updates happen frequently. Better safe than sorry!

Guys, I think I found a loophole. If you select the Spanish option in the phone menu, the wait times are usually shorter. Then just ask for an English-speaking rep when you get through. Works like a charm!

Scarlett Forster

Dude, that's genius! 🧠💯 Gonna try this tomorrow.

Isn't that kinda unfair to Spanish speakers tho? 🤔

It's definitely something to consider. While it can be helpful, it might add to the load for non-English lines.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is such a nightmare. I had the same issue last year and it took me weeks to get it sorted out. Have you tried resetting it online? Sometimes that works, but it's hit or miss.

It's so frustrating how inconsistent the system is. I've had success resetting online once, but other times it doesn't work at all. Wish there was a more reliable method.

Claimyr seems to be a pretty effective tool based on the reviews I've seen, but it's important to weigh the cost against the potential time savings. While $20 might sound steep to some, it could save countless hours of frustration and uncertainty. However, it's wise to exhaust free options first, such as utilizing online resources and community assistance, before resorting to paid services like Claimyr. Each situation is unique, so consider your current circumstances and decide if the cost is justified. Additionally, always be cautious when sharing personal information online or via third-party services, no matter how reputable they appear.

Friendly reminder to everyone: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online interaction. You never know when you'll need that info later. Trust me, I learned the hard way.

This is crucial advice. Documentation can be a lifesaver when things get complicated or if you need to prove something later.

I heard a rumor that EDD is gonna launch a new app soon that'll make all this easier. Anyone know if there's any truth to that?

Lol, EDD and "easier" in the same sentence? I'll believe it when I see it 😂

God I hope so. It's 2023, why are we still dealing with this stone age system?

A new app could be a game-changer if implemented well. Fingers crossed they follow through on this!

Hang in there! Stay persistent and document every step. Sometimes it takes a few tries, but you'll get there.

Pro tip: If you have a friend or family member who speaks another language, have them call for you using the non-English line. Way shorter wait times!

Interesting approach! It's a shame we even have to consider these tactics, but it's practical advice.

Update: I tried calling again this morning and finally got through! Took about 2 hours on hold, but they were able to reset my PIN. Thanks for all the advice, everyone!

2 hours?! You got lucky. I was on hold for 5 hours last week and then they hung up on me. This system is broken af 😤

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Wait, seriously? $20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 🤦‍♂️

Sounds sketchy. How do you know it's legit?

I get the skepticism, but I was desperate and it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Just sharing what helped me out!

How long did you have to wait with this service? I'm curious if it's faster than trying to call myself.

0 coins

-

Mikayla Davison

I guess $20 is worth it if it means avoiding hours of waiting on hold, but it does seem odd that such a service even needs to exist. What a broken system.

Hey OP, glad you got it sorted! Quick question - did they ask for any specific info to verify your identity when resetting the PIN? Just wanna be prepared when I call.

Good question. Having your info ready can definitely save time and stress when you finally get through.
