NYS Department of Labor unemployment - when does it stop if I get a job?
I've been collecting unemployment for about 8 weeks now and I just got offered a full-time position starting Monday. I'm supposed to file my weekly claim this Sunday but I'm not sure what to do. Do I still file for this week since I haven't started working yet? When exactly does my NYS Department of Labor benefits stop? I don't want to mess anything up or get in trouble for overpayment.

You need to report the start date of your new job on your weekly claim. Your benefits will stop the week you start working, even if it's just one day. So if you start Monday, you can still claim for the days before you started but you have to report the job start date.

yeah this happened to me too, just be honest about when you start working and they'll figure out the payment. Better to report it than get hit with an overpayment later
