NYDOL: Can't get through to continue unemployment application after days of waiting. Any tips?
I've been waiting for days to continue my unemployment application with NYDOL and still haven't gotten through to an agent. It's so frustrating! Has anyone else had this problem? Any tips on how to actually get someone on the phone?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to get through for weeks now. It's like they don't want us to actually file our claims š

Weeks? I've been at it for over a month! The system is completely broken.

Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

Yeah, I've tried everything. Early morning, late afternoon, even during lunch. No luck š«

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

Interesting. How long did you have to wait before getting connected?

It's totally legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. @profile6 I waited about 3 hours, but I was able to do other things instead of being stuck on hold.

$20 seems steep just to make a phone call...

@profile7 I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get my claim sorted. Time is money, you know?

Pro tip: Try calling your local state representative's office. Sometimes they can help push your claim through or get you in touch with someone at NYDOL directly.

Has anyone else noticed that the NYDOL website is always "under maintenance" when you need it most? š¤ It's like they're playing whack-a-mole with our claims!

Okay, listen up folks. Here's what I've learned after dealing with NYDOL for the past few months: ā¢ Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it feels hopeless. ā¢ Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. ā¢ Use their online system whenever possible, but also follow up with phone calls. ā¢ If you're not getting anywhere, reach out to your local government representatives. ā¢ Join unemployment Facebook groups or forums for real-time updates and tips. ā¢ Be prepared with all your information before you call. Have your SSN, employer info, and claim details ready. ā¢ Stay calm and be polite when you do get through. The person on the other end is probably overwhelmed too. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed, but keep pushing. You'll get through eventually!

Great advice. I'd add: check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there.

Wish I had known all this when I started my claim. Would've saved me so much stress!

Anyone else feel like they're trapped in a kafka-esque nightmare dealing with NYDOL? š¤” It's like trying to escape a maze that keeps changing while you're in it.

Kafka? More like a Stephen King novel. The NYDOL is the true horror story of our time š±

I'm in the same boat. It's maddening! How are we supposed to survive while waiting for them to get their act together?

Has anyone tried reaching out to NYDOL through social media? I've seen some people get responses on Twitter.

I don't think it's rigged, just incredibly outdated and overwhelmed. But yeah, it sure feels that way sometimes.

Quick question: Does anyone know if NYDOL is still doing those extra federal benefits? I can't find a straight answer anywhere!

I think it depends on your specific situation. Best to ask when you finally get through to someone.
