NY unemployment IDme verification 'You're all set' message - what does it really mean?

Finally got through to a NY unemployment agent yesterday after trying for DAYS, only to have them tell me they have no record of my claim at all and I need to reapply! When I did the reapplication, it immediately directed me to the IDme verification page. I completed the verification process, and afterward got a screen saying: 'You're all set! Now that you've been verified, the state can start processing your information...' But am I really 'all set'? Does this mean my claim is actually being processed now? Or do I need to do something else? I've been trying to call back to confirm but it's impossible to get through to anyone. Has anyone else seen this 'You're all set' message after IDme verification during a reapplication? What happened next for you? I'm stressing because my bills are piling up and I need to know if I'm actually going to receive benefits soon.

The 'You're all set' message specifically refers to completing the ID verification part of the process, not the entire unemployment claim. After verification, your claim information will be processed, but there are still steps to complete. Typically after IDme verification, your claim goes into a queue for review. You should receive an email from NYSDOL within 2-3 business days with next steps. You'll likely need to set up your payment method and complete your first weekly certification before payments begin. Keep checking your email and your NY.gov unemployment dashboard daily for updates. If you don't see any movement in your claim status within a week, then you should call again.

Thank you for explaining! My dashboard still shows nothing - just the option to file a new claim, which makes me nervous. I hope the email comes soon. Do you know if there's any way to check the status without calling?

I went through the exact same thing in January! The 'you're all set' message just means IDme verified you, but it doesn't mean your claim is approved. In my case, nothing happened for 10 days and I couldn't get through to anyone. I finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to reach an agent without the endless busy signals. They have this system that holds your place in line and calls you when an agent is available. Here's their video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE Once I talked to someone, they told me my application had an issue because my previous employer contested something. The agent fixed it right there and my payments started the following week. Worth it to actually talk to someone instead of waiting and wondering!

Oh wow, that's exactly what I need! I've been calling for hours every day with no luck. I'll check out that service - I really need to talk to someone to make sure this is being processed properly. Thanks for sharing!

does this actually work?? ive been calling at 8am sharp for TWO WEEKS and nothing!!!

@profile7 Yes, it worked for me! I was skeptical too but I was desperate after trying for days. Got through to an agent the same day I used it. Definitely better than the 8am call rush that never worked for me either.

THE SYSTEM IS COMPLETELY BROKEN!!! I had the EXACT same thing happen in February and let me tell you - that "you're all set" message is MEANINGLESS! I waited 4 weeks after getting that message and NOTHING HAPPENED!!! Had to call 87 TIMES before getting through to an actual person who told me they needed additional information that NO ONE BOTHERED TO TELL ME ABOUT!!! The whole thing is designed to make us give up and go away. Don't trust any messages you get online - the only way to know what's happening is to speak to a human being, which they make IMPOSSIBLE!!! Good luck!!!

That's exactly what I'm afraid of! Did you eventually get your benefits? How long did it take in total?

I did finally get them but it took 7 WEEKS total from reapplication to first payment! And that was only because I basically harassed them everyday until someone fixed it. So ridiculous what they put us through!

The IDme verification is just the first step in the process. After that, your application needs to be reviewed by a NYSDOL claims examiner. For a new application in 2025, the timeline typically looks like this: 1. IDme verification (you've completed this) 2. Initial claim review (1-3 business days) 3. Monetary determination letter (shows what your weekly benefit rate will be) 4. PIN setup for weekly certifications 5. First eligibility to certify (usually the Sunday after your claim is processed) 6. First payment (2-3 business days after your first certification) The system will update your NY.gov dashboard once your application moves to step 2. Until then, it might show the option to file a new claim even though you already have. This is normal but confusing. If you don't see updates within 7-10 days, you should call and speak with an agent directly.

Thank you for laying out all the steps! This is really helpful. I didn't realize there were so many stages. I'll keep checking my dashboard daily.

my cousin had this same thing happen last month, he said after the idme thing it took about 4 days then he got an email with instructions for the next steps

Thanks for sharing that! 4 days sounds reasonable. I'll try to be patient for a few more days before panicking further.

this happened to me too!! the you're all set thing just means the id part worked. you still have to wait for them to process everything else. i waited 2 weeks and nothing happened then i called and they said i needed to upload some documents that no one told me about!!! so frustrating

Ugh, that's so frustrating! What documents did they ask for? Maybe I should prepare those now just in case.

they wanted my last paystub and some form showing why i left my job. i think it depends on your situation tho. just annoying they don't tell you upfront!!

I went through this in March. Got the "you're all set" message after IDme but my dashboard didn't update for days. I was freaking out! Then suddenly got an email with my monetary determination. From IDme verification to first payment was about 3 weeks total for me. The system is super confusing - they should really explain the steps better.

3 weeks?! That's so long! Did you have to keep calling them during those 3 weeks?

I called twice during that time. The first time they just said to wait. The second time (after 2 weeks) the agent actually found an issue with my application and fixed it, which probably sped things up. So yeah, calling eventually helped.

One important thing to remember is that even while your claim is being processed, you should still certify for benefits each week you're unemployed. You can do this through your NY.gov account or by phone at 1-888-581-5812. If you're eligible, you'll be paid retroactively for all properly certified weeks once your claim is approved. If you haven't received any updates by next week, I strongly recommend getting through to an agent. They can see the status of your claim and address any issues immediately, which can save weeks of waiting.

Wait, I didn't know I should be certifying already! My dashboard doesn't show any option to certify - it only gives me the option to file a new claim. Does that mean I can't certify yet?

If your dashboard doesn't show a certification option yet, then your claim hasn't been fully registered in the system. In this case, you'll need to wait until your dashboard updates with the certification option. Keep checking it daily. Once the option appears, you'll be able to certify for all eligible weeks since your initial filing date.

btw has anyone noticed that the ny unemployment website always crashes on sundays when everyone is trying to certify??? so annoying

Based on recent processing times in 2025, here's what you can reasonably expect: - Within 3-5 days: Your dashboard should update to show your claim in process - Within 5-7 days: You should receive a monetary determination - Within 7-10 days: You should be able to set up certification If none of these happen, there may be an issue with your claim that requires agent intervention. The most common issues after IDme verification are: 1. Employment history verification issues 2. Separation reason questions (especially if you quit or were fired) 3. Previous overpayment flags on your account 4. Missing documentation These all require speaking with an agent to resolve, so if you don't see progress within the timelines above, don't wait - find a way to speak with an agent directly.

Thank you for the detailed timeline! Today is day 3 so I'll give it until the end of the week before I try more aggressively to reach an agent. This is really helpful information.

I'm going through this exact same situation right now! Just completed my IDme verification two days ago and got that same "You're all set" message. Like you, my dashboard still only shows the option to file a new claim, which is really confusing and stressful. Reading through everyone's experiences here, it sounds like this is unfortunately normal and we just have to wait for the system to catch up. The timeline seems to vary wildly - some people got updates in 4 days, others waited weeks. I'm going to follow the advice here and check my dashboard daily for the next week. If nothing changes by then, I'll definitely look into that Claimyr service that @Mateo Rodriguez mentioned - seems like actually talking to an agent is the only way to know for sure what's happening with our claims. Thanks for posting this question - it's really reassuring to know I'm not the only one dealing with this confusing process!

I'm so glad you posted this! It's really reassuring to know I'm not the only one going through this confusing process right now. The waiting and not knowing is the worst part, especially when bills are piling up. I'm on day 3 since my IDme verification, so based on what everyone's shared here, I'm going to try to be patient for a few more days before panicking. But like you said, if nothing changes by next week, I'll definitely check out that Claimyr service too - seems like it might be worth it to actually talk to someone who can tell us what's really happening with our claims. Keep me posted on how yours goes! Hopefully we'll both see some progress soon.
