Is unemployment benefits guide legitimate - NYS Department of Labor official resources?
I keep seeing different websites claiming to be unemployment benefits guides and I'm getting confused about what's actually legitimate. I filed my initial claim through my.ny.gov but now I'm getting emails from various sites offering to help with my weekly claims and job search requirements. Some want me to pay for services that seem like they should be free through NYS Department of Labor. Has anyone else dealt with this? I don't want to accidentally give my personal info to a scam site when I'm already stressed about my claim being in adjudication for two weeks.

The only legitimate site for NYS unemployment is my.ny.gov and the official NYS Department of Labor website at labor.ny.gov. Everything else is either a scam or a third-party service trying to charge you for information that's free from the state. Your weekly claims, job search log, and benefit calculations should all be done through the official portal.

•Thank you! That's what I thought but these other sites look so professional it made me second guess myself.

Be very careful with any site asking for payment upfront. The legitimate unemployment process through NYS Department of Labor is completely free - filing claims, weekly certifications, job search assistance, even appeals if your claim gets disqualified. Third-party companies can't speed up adjudication or guarantee approvals, despite what their marketing claims.

•What about services that help you get through to NYS Department of Labor on the phone? I've been trying to call for days about my adjudication status and can never get through.

•I actually used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) when I couldn't reach anyone at NYS Department of Labor for weeks. They have this system that calls repeatedly until they get you connected to an actual agent - saved me hours of frustration. There's even a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI. Definitely helped me get my adjudication issue resolved faster than waiting indefinitely.

The unemployment system is confusing enough without scammers making it worse! I stick to just the official NYS Department of Labor resources. If you need help understanding something, this forum is actually more helpful than most of those paid services anyway.
